2G MAF = no honey combs..... problem?

I picked up a 2G Maf yesterday, and the guy had taken out all the honey combs. He saved them though, and their in pretty good shape. Since Im putting it on my 1G should I put the honey combs back in, or leave them out?

Put them back in. I think you can leave the lower one out.

I had my 2g without 2 of the inserts. I just put a new maf in a few days ago and it runs a little better than before.

Does the new MAF have the honey combs? The problem Im having with the honey combs is hat thy wont sit flush. Its like their too thick.

By taking the honeycombs out u dont really gain alot at all... actually u gain nothing... The honeycombs slow the incoming air at idle so that the MAF can read it. By taking some out the air finds the easiest way through, avoiding the sensor... Therefore the MAF reads there is no air and screws up ur ecu maps.... I just did the same thing to my 98 spyder and it destroyed my idle... you can find anohter MAF w/ honeycombs at the junkyard for around 50$... If something is on your car, its obvioulsy got a job... remember that!

Thats wrong on so many levels , car has a an aircan, its deffinatly not needed, also has a BCS, EGR, all that emmisions shit that is not needed, cars have tons of things on them that arnt needed. honeycombs arn't needed, people have run 9's on 2g mas's with no honeycombs, they help a bit, but are far from " needed "

The honeycomb on the metered side that has the wires going to it need to be in for a good idle. Mark
