Ok i have my maft fully installed. My idle was horrible when i first started her, the entire car was shaking like crazy. i assumed it was running lean because i dont have the restrictive stock mas now, just a pipe. So I adjusted the Biss screw and it was eh not bad, but then i richened the idle knob on the translator to 3. She idles perfectly fine now and revs normal. The problem is know im gettting that tick i think everyone is talking about. I have nevvver gotten this before but now it keeps ticking away right above my fuel rail. I dont know really what the noise is but is it ok to drive and did i adjust the maft ok? also why would it start ticking all of a sudden?

PLEASE anyones help will be greatly appreciated.

It's lifter tick and I'm assuming it was there before and you just never noticed it. Don't rely on my answer though, you should wait for a more intelligent user. Also get a logger.

hey, yes sorry i am on a stock fuel pump. i had all knobs except for base and aux set at 0. i just figured it wouldnt really hurt it to turn it up some since im so lean.

i did a leak test a while back and everything seemed to be ok although i know i have a little one somewhere because i had a weak idle for a while with the stock mas until i adjusted the biss.

Im have a feeling im running really lean because i freed up a lot of restriction, + when i turn up the richness on the maft it gets much better, when i lean it out it gets way worse. i adjusted the biss in and out when it was all at 0 and it just wouldnt idle very well. the only way i can think to richen right now is to turn up the rich on the maft idle

i have it set at 1 richness and adjusted the biss screw some more. it idles very well now and i drove it around some. its just really hard for me to tell if its ok to drive or not. i should probably get an air/fuel meter asap. would i have to turn up all the other knobs 1 too? im so lost

should i put it all back to 0? what do you all think i should do

your probably right about the lifter tick maybe i just didnt notice it

thanks much for helping me out!!

as i read in my little printed up manual

'''If there are vacuum leaks, the IDLE dial may need adjustment to bring the fuel trim into the center of it range. Conversely, a rich idle caused by injectors can be tuned out with the IDLE dial. If the fuel trim is 'low' turn the IDLE dial counter clockwise (leaner) to correct it'''

As i read it I dont get how adding more gas to a vacuum leak system, and leaning out a low fuel system would help it. I dont get why its backwards?? Buttt anyways, i know i have small leak somewhere and even the manual says turning the idle up in this situation is ok so im happy. :)

Im confused though because now i dont know where the stock biss setting was, That doesnt matter right? as long as i have the air/fuel ratio good and i am at a good idling rpm?
