I have been working on the fuel pump install for a while now, and I can't get the bottom fuel fitting off to save my life. (the one you use the 2 wrenches on.) So I think the next best way would be to cut the rubber hose, circled in red in the picture below, and uber clamp it together when I'm done. Would this be a smart thing to do? I'm worried it might corrode/leak. What is the best way to do it?

I had initially used a tee and capped one port. Definately would not recommend this, although it is interesting to see just how fast your pump can drain a tank of gas onto the ground. The fitting in there now is a brass fitting with two outlets that fit well in the rubber hose. I've never had a problem with this one. You can pick one up from a hardware store or a parts store.
