1G head on 7 bolt block??????

I am currently letting the GSX rest after the short summer here in Germany and I am contimplating putting a 1G head on it. (My valve seals are leaking and my car smokes) Anyways...my question boils down to:

Do you HAVE to use the CAS when putting a 1G head on my 7 bolt block??

I really don't want to....but will if necessary.

I am going to port the intake mani, and exhaust mani IF AND WHEN I do this.

Just need the CAS question answered.
