my buddies 95' gsx has some issues that i'm having some problems ironing out! when the car had 550's and a big 16g it ran 13.00's@105! but since then he has added my old 50trim, 1000cc injectors, front mount intercooler, and hks 264/272 cams! the problem is the car is not a lick faster! i mean this thing will cut 13.00's@106 every single time! also what is strange is the car has some overheating problems! at first we thought the thermostat was the problem, but turns out the car still pushes 220deg. temps at the end of each pass and that's with the thermostat removed from the housing! :confused: my first thought was a bad head gasket but the compression test shows other wise! is it possable to have a blown head gasket and the compression still be good?

we're not used to not being able to figure stuff out, and this is really busting my chops in a major way! any help or ideas would be great! i'm calling head gasket but i'm not quite sure...what do ya'll think?
 
What device is he using for tuning? Check for boost leaks lately? Do a leakdown test lately? A lot of things can cause these problems.
 
he's using dsmlink, and has no boost leaks! a leak down test has been suggested but we don't have that kind of equipment! whats your thoughts on the high engine temps?
 
I think some tuning needs to be done on a dyno. 1000cc injectors can be hard to tune without a wideband O2 sensor.

With the thermosdat removed from the housing, the coolant will pass too fast through the radiator, causing the car to overheat. Put the thermosdat back in. Try to flush out the radiator, that may help to clear anything blocking flow.
 
im thinking he is running too rich and that is causing knock and that is causing the car to pull timing, which in turn has been known to make the car run slower and also over heat. makes sense, doesnt it?

also, please stop putting exclamation points after everything. i mean, its better than the people WHO TYPE LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME, but its still annoying to read.

i was thinking the same thing, but its worth a shot.

Something definitely is up with this car. I ran the same time on my 14b, LOL.

I would check to see what's up with your base timing. And 1000cc injectors? I guess with DSM link, its ok, but damn.


How bout posting up some logs?
 
First off, he is having with overheating because of his front mount. You can do serveral things to help cool his engine.
1. Get a 1360 cfm "push" radiator
2. An aluminum radiator

Most importantly, [/B]get a damn tune on that car, especially with 1000cc inj.
What in the world does he have them for in the first place? Seems a little big for not a lot of mods, a?
