I've been wondering why wouldn't a WRX ECU work on a 1g as long as you correct the injectors? Hell, why wouldn't a TurboXS UTEC work?

You would have to completely rewire the ECU harness because I am sure the WRX ECU has a different pinout than the DSM ECU. Not the mention the WRX sensors probably use different return voltages. Not to mention that your engine harness doesnt include all the input sensors the WRX ECU expects, not to mention you would have to come up with a translator to make your MAS work properly.....etc.

It's not something you should consider seriously.

why would you want it to? It wouldn't because the sensors needed are most likely not calibrated in the same way, a wrx has way different characteristics for the ecu to be tuned for than a dsm, and then there's the fact a 1g would be OBD-I and a wrx would be OBD-II. I could go on longer about reasons this wouldn't work, but really I just wanna hear why you want it to work in the first place.

Why? Because engine management is easier. Considering I don't have an EPROM ECU and would rather have a more sophisticated ECU than a dumb bang-bang OBD0. Changing sensors would be easy enough. I can get ahold of an ECUTek for $200 and all the sensors would be cheap from a wrecked WRX.

Mirage2L, why don't you add soming CONSTRUCTIVE rather than nothing? Would help more. :thumbdown You have a poor attitude, buddy.

Black95, the WRX is arguably one of the most sophisticated ECUs around, centainly more than a 1g or 2g ECU. Why don't you do some research and come back when you know the difference between the three.

As for the two that have a brain, I'm willing to swap sensors and rewire the harness. As far as compatibility, would it work? I would have to find some way around injector differences, but other than that I can't think of anything, so I need some help.

It's not a matter of need, it's a matter of want. Why do you need a bigger turbo on your car? Why do you need a big exhaust? Why do you need a new intake? Why do you need a HUGE intercooler and HUGE injectors? See what I'm getting at here?

If you honestly need to ask why it wouldn't work you aren't remotely ready for something as complicated and unnecessary as this is.

There is no point. I don't want any of these "he's trying to think outside the box" posts. This is just plain silly.
