Hey guys, I am looking at some JDM motors, and i came across this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33615&item=7946713037&rd=1 don't worry i wont pay that much, and am not going to buy one off ebay. But on road racing engineering they say the ones with the yellow injectors, come off of a 91-93 rs, which is what exactly? a lancer?, but anyway my question is are all of these motors 6 bolt, because after 92 they stopped making them right, but maybe on the lancer they continued to make 6 bolts?? Also is that manifold exactly like the "cyclone" or the "ECImulti" or a combo of both, should it be swapped with the stock one or no? Any info on these motors?
 
Wow, that sucker looks clean. Keyword Looks. Havent heard too much about that company so i can't judge by looks. Anywho, that motor comes with a small 16g turbo and obviously the bigger injectors to compensate. They do have the dual runners as well. I haven't heard of alot of people getting it because the only difference is the turbo and the injectors I believe. Thats all i can really say. I'm also planning on doing a swap once it warms up here in the tundra. I'm gonna go with the totaljdm.com motor as they are well respected. :thumb: :talon:
 
Ya i think i am going with totaljdm as well, the prices are good and the engines are stored in Canada so the cost of shipping should be a little less too for me. I was just wondering a little about these motors.
 
maybe i'm missing something but in the picture of that engine, those injectors don't appear to be yellow
 
Ya, from the pic you can really tell the color, but it says it has them, and the only time ive ever seen yellow injectors is when the motor had that manifold (ECI multi turbo intercooler). But i dont know, thats not really the point i was just mostly wondering, if these were 6 bolts, and how the stock ECU, would run those 510cc, or do u have to run the ecu they give you, and if u do have to use the JDM ecu does that make the dual runners work properly, you dont have to answer the last question i know their is many threads about the dual runner intake setup, i can find it by searching.

That's off of a gvr4.

EDIT: Here's how you can tell.

First, it has a cyclone manifold. The evo never was offered with that, to my knowledge. That was unique to DSM's and gvr4's.

Second is the valve cover. Evo valve covers were not red, they were more of a greyish platinum color. They got that, we got our fancy unpainted silver, and the gvr4 got, you guessed it, red.

Third is the hose coming off of compressor inlet. That is part of the stock gvr4 licp.

That and most JDM 4g63's came off of gvr4's.
 
thats cool. Its weird that the factory would be like lets put a 16g turbo on some of the motors, along with the 510cc injectors. lucky for those who got it when they first bought those cars off the lot, it was probably a little more expensive though but still back then, that would of been a pretty cool option to have on a new car.
 
I will research it a little more but from my experiances 4g63 engines with larger injectors and the 16g comes from a special edition jdm galant vr4. Like I said I will check to make certain but that's the only one that I've ever seen.

Depending on what your final goal is, that is a nice pick up if you were going to get an engine anyway. Even for a good deal the injectors and 16g are worth atleast $700.

Funny thing. I was looking at the same motor as you are on e-bay. Only thing is that their engines are cheaper if you go on their website. Here is the site: http://www.sunrisejdmmotors.com/mitsubishi.php And actually I think it’s the same pic as on their website.

I got couple questions for people that know about JDM engines:

So what car did Cyclone motor come from? I heard that it's not worth keeping Cyclone intake? What car did that motor come from ( 4G63GTE)? What is the difference from JDM Cyclone, JDM Silver valve cover and JDM 4G63GTE??? Reason I am asking is that this guys claiming that their engine is 227HP on EBay and only 220 on their website. What engine is most powerful (I assume the yellow top and small 16g) but is there anything else that makes it more powerful? What is the best engine to get from Japan? Silver Top, Cyclone or 4G63GTE??? I know that the engines that I am looking at are all 6 bolt so it's going to bolt on to GVR4 or 1st Gen.

I got offered 4G63 Cyclone complete with Red Injectors (what size are they) and manifold and turbo for $1200. Is that a good deal or should I just look around for something else?

Please answer as many questions as you can

All of the motors out of the turbo galants had a cyclone manifold on it. Except for these ones apperently. I am assuming these came out of some kind of special edition galant, still had a dual runner intake but does not say cyclone. The motors with the silver valve covers, have a big 16g and yellow injectors that came out of a evo3 according to rre, they have a bigger TB, but have smaller runners in the head and the head is the same size as the 2g's i believe. I am guessing that the 4g63-gte is the best JDM motor you can buy. Also i have never heard of stock red injectors before though.
 
Yes, i still don't know what is 4g63GTE? But atlest i found out what are red top injectors here is the link: http://dsmtuner.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159781 I know that they are 550cc, but still not too much info on what Turbo came with them and i know that it got red vavle cover and itake said Cyclone. No i got to figure out what engine should i get. The enigne i am talking about is Red Vavle cover, Red Top injectors, Cyclon itake and some kind of turbot (how can i tell if it's 16g???) i can get that complite motor for about $1200, you think its a good deal, well i know it's better then get it for $1999. I know that i am going to have to use USDM intake manifold since Cyclone is more hastle and not really worth it that what i heard, is that true.
 
the cyclone is not worth the hassle imo, but others will disagree, but they have clearence issues if your car has A/C. the only way to tell if the turbo is a 16g is to look at the compressor wheel, but their is no way to tell what kind of 16g is unless you get all the numbers off of it. Here is a 14b, and here is a 16g notice the compressor...

Silver Top {EvoIII} - Non cyclone, 510cc injectors, big 16g, 78mm tb, 280hp
Red Top {Gvr4}= Cyclone, 450cc injectors, 14b, 60mm tb, 220hp
4g63GTE {Gvr4 Special Edition & Lancer RS}= Cyclone (does not say "CYCLONE" but has dual runners), 510cc injectors, small 16g, 78mm tb, 270hp

--GVR4's ARE 6 BOLT CRANKS--
--EvoIII's HAVE 7 BOLT CRANKS--
 
I don't mean to Hijack a thread but... I've honestly never heard of a 4G63GTE!?!? I've heard of 4G63A,B,T but never a "GTE". IMHO the GTE is toyota lingo and someone is not relaying the right info to their consumers. I've worked on forklifts that use Mitsu 4g63A,B, lp, and 4g54A lp engines. But that's just my opinion.

i would still hope for the best on one of those jdm motors..and expect the worst.

the japanese used car and parts market is ruthless..false mileage claims are normal.

Yeah but most of those Galants you are talking about are our 7G body style ('94-'98) and have either 2.4L I4's are 6 cylinder engines (6A12's and 6A13's) not offered here.

no..the galants im talking about where the modells from 88 to 93

the dynamic 4 had a 4g63 nt and awd..it also came as a 2.4 as well
the amg was fwd
