Progressively crappy startups

So basically the first time I start it up every day, it has started up crappy for the past month or so. But...it has been getting prgressively worse and worse. Liek today, it sputtered and sputtered and then died. Then second time i tried it sputtered a bit and then finally started, but I had to give it quite a bit of gas. A month ago the startups were just getting longer and longer. Every day after the first startup, every other startup after the first is fine, but no clue why. Hopefully it doesnt get any worse than this, and I want to catch the problem now. I'm replacing plugs and wires very soon, and also suspecting the battery. I might need to do a fuel system cleanout too. Dont know why it would be the battery though...becuase I havent left it unused for any extended period of time. Anyone else have the same problem or know what it is?

Is it not starting up, and cranking for a longer period of time, or does it fire right away and struggle to maintain idle? If it cranks for a while, it could be restricted fuel delivery and/or a dying battery. If it starts pretty quickly but lacks a good idle, then the problem could be in the FIAV, or ISC. Can you log it at startup?

Hate to hi-jack... but what is FIAV or ISC... I have been having great startups, but a horrible idle lately... it sputters... Kinda sounds like it has cams or somethin, then it falls so low that it stalls....

FIAV -Fast Idle Air Valve

ISC -Idle Speed Control

..something I forgot earlier, you guys might also want to check your BISS (Base Idle Set Screw)... it might need some adjustment with the changes in climate.

Would either one of them effect normal running conditions (i.e. at 3K driving normal?

I used to have the same problem. It would start up then sputter and die. Then I would try it again and it would do the same. Fianlly it would start up. I changed the fuel fitler, which was dirty as shit...... later come to find out my ex filled it with 87 instead of 93 a couple of times. But I did that and it ran fine. Also when it used to do it I could reset the ECU and it would start up with no problem. No clue why though.
