okay so i have a complete 6 bolt swap. I am swapping everythign into a new car and want to do everythign right and build up the engine a little bit. Here is what will/is going on with the car:

1g intake mani
1g TB
1g Head
FMIC
EVO III 16g
ported exhaust/o2
2.5 DP
high flow cat
3inch exhaust
650 injectors
Fuel pump

i just think there might be some sloppy things going on inside my engine. So i was planning on new pistons rings, boring it out, and some other upgrades/maintanance thigns so i wont have to worry about problems in the future. Basically i want my motor to be strong, well built, and not completely crush my wallet.

im shooting for consistent 12's without having to worry about shitting breaking everything i boost hard with the car.

recomend doing anyhting to the head? What kind of seals and things shoudl i replace while everyhting is apart?

you dont wanna crush the wallet but wanna bore the motor and spend 1,000$ on a rebuild?

If its not broke dont fix it. There dont need to be so many of these damn 'what should i buy threads'. Use the search button. And this should be in the newbies forum.

a. i have oil coming out of my engine block somewhere, idk if its a seal or a crack or what.

b. i have a shitload of carbon build up etc inside my exhaust manifold(is this normal?)

c. i dont want to crush my wallet means i dont want to spend 5-6k. 1-2

how much does it cost to bored it out, and rebuild it ? on average

I am paying roughly $450 for a 6-bolt rebuild including parts(Clevite bearings, OEM rings). The price includes disassembly, hot tanking, cylinder honing, balancing, and assembly. I paid $150 for the block with a spun balance shaft bearing.

Why do you need to bore it out? If the cylinder walls are still within spec, then you can just rehone it and re-use your 85mm pistons, or if you haven't already put in 2g pistons that would be a good upgrade as well. If thats the case, the only things you really need to buy are new bearings (SBR has a full set of Clevite rod and mains for like $100), OEM rings ($130), check and polish crank (mine cost $28), have your rods checked ($10 for me), hot tank and hone block ($30 for me), and a gasket set ($150). If you can take apart your block and put it back together, your lookin for a pretty cheap rebuild. I got bit by the performance bug when I did mine...I had planned on just doing a rebuild, but ended up swapping in a forged 6-bolt and replaced everything I could while it was out. It should save money down the line though.
