I am really wanting to stroke my motor but u have no idea if I should buy a kit from a company like Slowboy Racing or use a Hundyia crank or use a 4G64 crank? Can someone help me with some more information on the subject?

Epic,
This has been a big topic as of late. Do some searching on stroker and you will find a wealth of information on it. JAM and SBR are 2 places that sell stroker cranks... I know JAM sells a stroker kit but it's a bit pricey.

I was looking into a stroker build-up and in the end I've decided to just get a 4G64 for when I decide that I need more displacement. The disadvantages of the stroker for the long term durability just isn't their for me..

SBR made me want to vomit last summer.

I suggest you just get a 2.4 crank and stroker pistons. Those are the only two things that set a stroker apart from a regular rebuild.

Be sure to get the proper crank!
besides the clearancing needed on the 2.0 block. easier to just go with a g4cs if your wanting more displacement and your buying forged bottom end anyway.

Why would you say that? I have had nothing but good experiences with them.
I'm not gonna hi-jack this thread but you're one of the few that have had a good experience with them. Read around some other DSM boards.

i have. everything ive heard so far is either bullshit or sounded like machine work problems. these motors are not 2.0 motors and you cant just throw one together and treat it like a 2.0 litre. knock sensor placement is different and airflow needs are different. do some searches and youll find alot of GOOD things about them too. just like everything else on the internet.

By clearancing are you referring to the 3 minutes to the block/girdle with a grinder or 10 seconds to the pan with a hammer?

Pay 1000 dollars for a 20g that flows less than a t25, then call that bullshit.

*sigh* im not gonna get into a pissing match about Slowboy especially when nothing i said had anything to do with them. besides, isnt bitching about a vendor against the rules?as far as clearancing yeah its easy but its still has to be done so whats your point? ever seen a crank clearance itself through an oil pan? not pretty so it better be done right the first time.

I didn't think it was possible to flow less than a t25?!

On a positive note ... I've had nothing but good experience with sbr. Roadrace Engineering is my favorite place as of now, then AMS but they are just too pricey.

What should we call you for getting suckered into paying it? Caveat Emptor.
Suckered into it? I went to a highly popular vendor in the DSM community, one should expect 100% satisfaction. Guess you could call me screwed, but the name calling should be aimed elsewhere.

Yeah, I wouldn't either until I experienced it first hand. Not only did DSMLink tell me with actual #'s, I switched back to the t25 turbo only to go noticeably faster.

I will be going with a G4CS crank with eagle rods and wiesco custom stroker pistons. One qustion though, will i be able to run a crankscapper on this crank and should i still use the oil squiters in the block. Also does the G4CS crank have a balnace shaft on it and if it does, then will the balance shaft elimator for a 4g64 crank work on it?

well, the balance shafts are in the block, not on the crank. If you are putting this crank in a normal 4g63 block then it will have balance shafts, and a normal kit will work.

Stoker kits are a great way to make power but you need to get a quality crank. I had a 2.3 in my car for about 3 months with an aftermarket cut crank and I broke the thing in two. Since then (about 6 months and 4000 miles) I have had NO problems. I use a stock mitsu crank. You get what you pay for. These companies that are selling the 2.3 kits super cheap are doing so by using an aftermarket crank that is most likely cut. save up the extra couple of hundred bucks and make your life alot easier. As far as recomending the 2.3 I cant recomend it enough. I run a 2.3 with a GT35R and it is in my eyes the best dsm combo ever. 600 plus daily drivable horsepower. :)
