Hi everone, this is directed to those with 16g turbos.
At what rpm does your turbo spool? What did you do to achieve that, and what would you suggest to make one spool faster. Btw, mine (small 16g) hits full boost at about 36-3700 rpms with a 3in test pipe and catback and k&n. Thanks for your input

You have problems. Small 16G should spool way way sooner than that. My old BR20G spooled at those levels. Check for boost leaks or exhaust manifold leaks.

You can achieve quicker spool by tuning, ported manifold and O2 housing (or O2 eliminator). Some shots of nitrous will also spool that turbo up instantly :D

Yeah, its missing a lot of bolts from all over, including a bunch off of the manifold, the turbo, the dp, and everywhere else on the body. But thats the way I bought it, the last owner put it together, did a real crappy job on it.

Any nd all leaks will hinder the spool up very much. If you want max spool then youll need good tuning, ported/aftermarket o2 housing (most important) and 3" downpipe connectiong to your test pipe. I have all that above, and I hit full boost (18psi) in my Big16g at roughly 3200:thumb:

my big 16 hit around 3200. was having problems but found a small leak till i fixed it it wasn't hitting till the 4k range look for leakes they kill boost!
