Yeah, if its a true Evo 3 motor, it wont fit in a 1G.

actually i have a 93 GSX which has the 7 bolt setup.....so it does drop into my car....i know of a couple people that have it...from 90-92 it wont fit because of the 6 bolt set up.....but because mines has a 2g setup, the only difference is the turbo i still have the 14b instead of the t25 so it does fit...

Its not the fact that its a 6 bolt or 7 bolt. Here:

EVO Motors: The valve covers of the EVO 1-3 motors will be a kind of titanium color. They are the same as a US 2G motor with nothing fancy. They have the smaller 2G style intake ports, a small runner intake manifold with a larger plenum and a larger throttle body than a 2G motor. Still they are hard to find. Many are from other 4G63 powered cars and can have small 13G sized turbos. They will not bolt into a 1G because there are no provisions for the front roll stopper motor mounts that bolt to the block. Everything in Japan from 94 and up has the front and rear roll stopper motor mounts on the transmission 2G Eclipse style. Many people are running around yapping about how they have an EVO motor in their car. If it bolts into a 1G, it isn't an EVO motor.

That is a cut and paste from this link from RRE.

half-cocked you are right.................i had spoke with a new worker at the jdm store and today i spoke with the owner and it does not bolt up.......so now i have no choice but to either try to get a 2g or get the gvr4-jdm engine ........ can anyone give me the HP rating on the gvr4 jdm, i heard its higher than the usdm one......

my car is a 93 gsx perfect running condition 61k miles i am the second owner....it has a ported head, 3inch turbo back exhaust into an n1, exedy racing clutch, all new belts and tune up its white with a black interior and has a POWER sunroof, has a hacked air can with a new filter all free mods done, balance shaft removed...never been to the track..looking to trade for a 97-99 gsx shell....

Why are you willing to trade a perfectly running 1G for a 2G headache?? If it runs as good as you say it does why do you want to swap out engines? Plenty of power can be made with the stock bottom end.

someone please tell me if the evo3 motor is a 7 bolt cuz if it is 6 bolt here i come....

Why you have 2 identical threads MUCH LESS why you keep responding to them both is beyond me.
