I'm selling my ported small 16g and I've got a 14b that I'm going to replace it with, no shaft play at all, none. housing has two tiny cracks inside, and both blades are in excellent shape. Can I run 19lbs. of boost on this turbo? I've got all the support mods, 560cc injectors, afc, exhaust, etc., and if I did run 19PSI it would only be on 2nd stage boost (I have the dejon tool mbc2a). When (what rpm) will the turbo run out of breath at 19lbs.?

the 14b runs out of steam at about 18-19 psi. If u have all supporting mods u can boost more than 19, but it will spike to whatever u have it at and quickly decrease to 18 or 19 at redline. A lot of guys running 14b who have a lot of power boost like 24 psi, spikes to 24 psi, and quickly falls to 18 or 19 at 6 grand or so.

I ran my 14B last year at a steady 22psi all the way to 6700 (that's where I shifted) on race gas, with a stock smic, and ran a 12.84. Earlier the same day, I started at 19psi and was running 13 flat. I am pretty sure quite a few people on here have ran the 14B @ 20+ psi on the stock smic without problems.

The 14b will keep up @ 19psi, and with the supporting mods you have this should be no prob, based on personal experiences the reason why the boost falls its because even the most little hairline crack makes an effect but if you dont care for that just slap the turbo right in and have fun tunning it.

IMO though I would try to do some homemade porting on the turbine housing and do some research on how to fix this hairline cracks. this will help to keep the boost nice and steady.

did u have a datalogger when u were running 22 psi on the stock ic? I was seriously under the impression that without an upgraded intercooler u'll just heatsoak after about 17psi. If u logged it though with little to no knock then what did u do that was so different from all the other people who say u cant go that high with stock ic?

i also ran 20+ psi on the 14b with some 110 in the tank. my best run was 13.2@101 at about 4400 ft. elevation. would of been in the 12s easily at sea level.

Back in the day I used to trap 110mph on 112 torco leaded at 20 psi with a 24 psi spike with my old 14b. I would suggest not to over port the wastgate hole if shooting for high boost on the 14b. This was with a starion intercooler that I still run to this day, stock head and cams.
They say a starion is no better than a stock side mount. :)

Generation, to answer your question, yes, I was logging all my runs. I NEVER try to run more than 2 counts of knock at any RPM band, (most of the time zero knock). As for what I did different than everyone else, nothing. My exhaust manifold, 14b, and o2 housing were all stock with no porting or anything. You are starting to see more people tell you the same thing I did in my first post. Quite a few people run the 14b to 20+ psi without problems, even on the stock IC. If you were road racing, sure, the smic would get heat soaked. But for 12-14 second run, on the 14B, I don't think so.
High octane gas is the key to running higher boost without knock, or of course you can run
water injection. I know some guys on here that are running 20+ psi on a 16g with water injection and the stock IC, but that's getting away from the original question on this post.
