6 Bolt Build Up?????????? ALOT of $$$$$$$

Hey guys i have read some posts about getting a 6 bolt block for about $150 bucks first off is this true???? If so how much money am i looking at to get a running motor??? I was hopeing to spend about $3,000 to 4,000 can it be done????? :confused:
 
Very very true, I started a basic 6bolt block build. I am now done w/ the motor, and got sucked into to building it "balls to the wall", and I now have 6 grand less in my pocket. You could easily rebuild a 6bolt w/ stock parts for around 2 grand. Everything is dependent on machine work that must be done. Make sure not to cheap out on machine work because it will save you in the end. Getting the block rebored and balanced will very much help the life of your future motor.
 
In this case, get ready to spend alot of money.
 
I've got a 6-bolt in my garage on a pallet that was taken from a running parts car I bought. I have planned to tear it down this winter and go from there. Is there a place that does shortblock machining and assembly lik a Buschur but less$$$. I did not yet check the link presented a few posts back but will. I kinda like the headwork that taboo offers but they seem like a place that works when they want & have never returned an email I sent them so I am not anxious to send them a head!
Could a local shop that is highly qualified do the work? like are there a ton of DSM specific tricks that are must haves? Thanks.
PS: I am talking a performance buldup to run a 50 trim at the highest safe boost on 93 pump.Mark
 
A stock 7-bolt can handle all the power a 50trim can put out as long as you aren't getting significant knock. I've been running 25psi on my 50trim and stock 7-bolt for nearly a year now. Pulls strong as ever.

There is also a guy in Illinois who ran 11.0x @133 stock 7-bolt AND he's fwd. OMG

The 7bolt can make all the power in the world and not to start anything here but its not IF its gonna crankwalk its WHEN. Although the 7bolt from my parts car hung a rod though the oil pan and it only had a 14b on it so go figure.
 
Gaddis I got the 6-bolt to help ass the central, NY winter, tearing it down and then going from there.
We have some similar mods but I have ??'s about the others. I also have the AGP 50 trim. I went with 720cc injectors but probably have to go with 660's, man I spent $300. last week and who would use such monsters?
I have a 2.5" mandrel exhaust. You have the DSMlink and all I have is the GM MAF-T. I never could tune mine. My FMIC is a Dejon street FMIC and probably too small.
Oh well, what can I do? mark
 
General Prices for my motor mods.

Wiseco Pistons: $430 (Rings, wrist pins, snap locks included .02 over)
Eagle Rods: $360
Clevite Main Bearings: 50ish
Rod Bearings: 30ish
A set of HKS 272/272 Cams: 530-ish
Crower valve springs+titanium retainers: $220-ish
Bronze Valve Guides: $100
1mm oversized+nitrded valves: 200ish
950CC FIC Injectors: $390

Machine Work: 320 (decking/boring/honing/balancing)
Head Machine Work: 300 (installing guides, oversizing valves, hot tanking, pressure checking, etc.)

That's my basic rebuild: Total cost: 2930 for the actual motor.

AGP Turbo Kit: $1500-ish (varies)
AEM EMS: $1400

New overall cost: $5830
The transmission can be left alone if desired, or even further built (full racing prepped), and the EMS has 25,100,and 400 dollar sensors required with it I didnt list.
