Hey guys, I have 98 Mitsu Eclipse GSX.

I recently got done with my 7 bolt build up and am now in the process of putting everything back togother.

I was about to install the oil pan and ran across a clearance issue. The ARP main studs, (specifically the two closest to the flywheel) are rubbing against the oil pan. All the ARP nuts seem to have flares on the nuts which I believe is causing the problem.

Anyone here run across this problem before and how did you go about resolving it? I already hammered my oil pan to try and get some room, but it only helped a little. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I am not 100% positive, but i think there is a difference between 6 bolt and 7 bolt rod and main studs. Make sure your vendor sent you the right product.

There is no difference in the main studs. The same kit is used for 6 bolts and 7bolts. Although, I'm starting to think that ARP should make a kit for 2nd gens.

that sucks, I just got my 12pt main stud kit today, are you sure heating the oil pan and then whacking it some won't provide enough clearance. How much rub are we talking about here?

Yeah I'm sure if I beat it to death, I 'might' be able to get a hair of clearance. However, I would like to make sure before I ruin/distort the pan from sealing on the block. I've made some room and figured I should ask some of the guys here first.

The holes on the oil pan are not centered with the holes on the block. At this point, I could probably screw the bolts in, but the bolts would go in very tight and the pan would rub against the 2 front main studs.
