my motor has 140,000 miles on it but dosnt smoke all that bad.. like most smoke at idle well mine seems to have no compression problems, and dosnt burn oil... i have a brand new freshly rebuilt 14B with maybe 2,000 miles on it.. do you think its safe to put it on some race gas and turn it up to like 20psi? i have all the mods like fuel control and etc so i will not lean it out im just scared to blow it cause of so many miles... the highest i have had it so far is 16psi and the EGT's stayed around 1500 degrees so it seems to be fine.. but what do you all think?

:dsm:

My original engine has 146K miles. It sees 26 psi (on race gas) regularly with no problems whatsoever.

If your engine is healthy and you've got plenty of good fuel, Go for it!

that seems like quite a bit of boost to be runnin on a 14b. I would think it would be heating up the air more than cooling it at that point. but i'm no expert, its just an observation.

Boost over 20psi without ARP headstuds is asking for trouble. It lifted my head and blew the HG not too long running above 20psi. Your mileage may vary but around 20-22psi is where the head start lifting without upgraded headstuds.

my car ran 12.0 @ 116 on a stock 172k motor.. it finally let loose because I blew the oil filter off at the SO & it started knocking a few months later... but it still had 150s compression accross all 4. If it's a healthy motor.. go for it (but not w/ a 14b).

Ken, 172k MILES? Or Kilometers???

If it's miles thats one helluva feat, and makes me really wanna get a compression check on my 112k miled car...

Actually i have a friend with a Green model and runs around 29-30psi on race gas on stock head studs..

That's 172k miles... I ain't from Canada Eh? That was on a completely stock motor (never cracked the factory seal), stock HG, stock head bolts, w/ HKS cams.
