hi guys
any of you have the experience of driving in a fwd with a turbo bigger than a 20G
can a fwd handle the power of a turbo bigger than a 20G
or will it just smoke up the tires ?so any of you with a fwd that makes more than 400hp lets hear it.
thanks. :thumb:

My buddy has a 2g Spyder with a 60 trim and has major traction problems. He was dyno'd at 342 whp and as soon as that turbo spools, he does nothing but spins. He has bald tires and that don't help but even with my 16g I used to spin like crazy. I didn't have a 1st 2nd or half of 3rd gear. I also have more mod's then he does but he has a way bigger turbo. As soon as I got my suspension, solid mounts, and Quaife, my wheelspin is almost gone... just a tiny bit in 1st.... So if you get all that done you should be ok with 400+ hp. Probably need more trans work though. Good luck. Keep us posted on your decision.

Before I got all my fuel mods, B16g fmic etc.. I had a small 16g @15psi.

It would spin at 4k rpm to red line in first, then the same in 2nd gear. I never even launched it cause i'm sure the tires would just spin like crazy. If i pushed the clutch in , In 5th gear gave it a little gas and dumped the clutch, The tires would bark really loud..

Ever see the video of smithoid's 2g gst? His car dynoed at 611.9whp. It is fwd. :)

you get useto not having traction. it's pretty funny when you give someone a head start and at the top of second gear you're tires break loose and u just spin past them and they say... OMG

they all pretty much summed it up.

1st gear i cant go past half throttle or i'll spin
2nd gear i cant go WOT until 4k rpms or i'll spin
3rd gear + i'm fine..

either way you're going to spin .. whether it be in teh lower or higher gears, you choice... just get used to feathering your throttle..

or.. get an awd OMG

if you have a good suspension setup, quaife, really wide front tires that are made of r-compound or similar, your traction will be fairly decent (by no means anywhere near awd). There are plenty of people with BEAST fwd dsms that get plenty of traction. Check out the SBR guy's 91 GST :

He can pull 12s all day long in his fwd and has laid down a 1.78 60 ft time by using the BM tranny insert, suspension mods, and slicks. His car is making around 400hp. Traction IS possible with a high power FWD dsm, but you have to pay lots of $ for it =)

Have you ever spun you wheels in 4th :) lets just say that its an experience few have. Get an EBC and do some tuning and you should be a whole lot better.

yes its quite a rush I must say. anyway learn to drive and you shoudl not have a problem driving a high horse power fwd. My friend daily(well used to) drive is 500hp gst and it was possible, you will learn to love the freeway.

I think suspension and motormounts will help a TON. I used to have an 18G in my GS-T and it spun half of second gear but my stock motormounts were THRASHED. I ran the setup for a total of 2 weeks and decided I wanted more power.

I added a PTE 54trim and prothane motormounts, hopefully I will know what its like to have traction problems in 3rd. (not really hope just want that kind of power)

I think high HP GS-Ts are awesome, normally just see the AWD with huge numbers. Check my sig, Im going to be a freeway monster I think.
