Does any one have a t04b turbo?

Hey does any one have are know how a t04b turbo performs?
I haven't herd much about this turbo in these forums. And I have
one that I bought off ebay for 700. I thought it was a good deal.
But know I'am thinking other wise. Is it the same as a t3/t4 turbo?
And how much hp can be expected from it? Also how can I tell if it has
a wastegate on it?
Thanks for anyone who has any info.
 
That doesnt sound like a TO4B. The a/r seem way low. I have seen T-66 in the rang of 60/58, but not a TO4B. Show us a pic or give us a link to the ebay Item. A straight TO4B I have heard can be used on DSMs if they are race built. Most go with the Hybrid, I am looking to expect mine today or tomorrow. Reason being is that the T04B has just a huge exhaust housing that It wont spool hard unless its in its top end. Put a T3 housing on there with a stage 3 turbine, than youve got a wicked turbo. Give some more info.

A t3/t4 turbo is just like it sounds a combo of t3 and t4 based parts. People ask for wheel, turbine, and a/r's because a t3/t4 could be a number of things. It's like saying you have a mitsu hyrid. hehe Yeah but what's it made of?

Pop the housings off and measure the wheels with a mic. If it's brand new and you can determine the wheel sizes then you can probably sell it for a good price and not lose too much.

Whats a mic? And selling it? So this is the wrong turbo for an eclipse?

A mic is that thing that rappers shout into. A micrometer is an accurate measuring device.

And is it the wrong turbo for an eclipse? Well, it's probably wrong for YOUR Eclipse...but it "can" be used, but mainly for full out drag racing DSMs. What are your CURRENT mods now.

Best bet is to sell it and get a Big16G.

So it's for drag cars? so I couldn't use it on the street?

What I have right now isn't much. For my engine all I have is and Injen intake, Apexi manual afc, MSD ignition and Greddy Intercooler. But all that stuff isn't on my car yet. It's all in boxes. I'am in Korea and my car is in California. I'll be back there in about 6 months. Then I'am going to slap all the parts on it.

But my goal is to get around 400 to 500 hp and be street driven. So is this turbo the wrong turbo for me.
And I'am still shopping around for supporting mods.

Dude, the problem is that we don't know if it would be good or not. We have to know the wheel trims which is why you need to pop the housings off and measure the wheels.
 
based on the ebay description i think it could be a decent turbo, just get a new turbine housing. A T4 1.00 A/R is huge. Either get a healthy sized T3 housing (.63 or .82) or a smallish T4 housing (.50 or .58). Even with a slightly large T4 turbine wheel it will spool ok. The compressor side looks good.

you should totally give this guy some negative feedback or whatever they do on ebay, who in the right mind would recommend this turbo for a dsm or a honda...

Do you know were I could get a t3 housing? I realy don't think I could get what I paid for. So I just want to make it work for my car. What would I need to have on my car to make this work.

All I have right now is a Intake,Intercooler,Apex-i fuel controller, and msd ignition. I know I still got to get boost controller, bov, intake manifold , throttle body, injectors , fuel pump and turbo back exhaust system.

Why would this turbo be used only on a drag car?
Is cause it won't spool up till 7000 rpms are something?
 
You can't just put a T3 turbine housing on a T4. Not gonna happen.
I'll just cut to the chase here. That turbo is sooo wrong for your car it's hard to even explain. It's not going to bolt on to you enhaust manifold, o2 housing, oil feed line, oil drain line, intake pipe or lower inter cooler pipe. It would cost you over $1000 just to bolt that thing on, then it will still perform like crap.
Sell it, but a T28 or something.

I'am glad you said something. I was looking all over the net for a t3 housing. So your saying I should just a nother turbo? How is the t28?
My goal is to push 400-500hp and be streetable. What a good turbo for that?

Baby steps.
You are not ready to own a 4-500 hp DSM yet. I've seen this a million times, and the car always ends up running like crap. Pick an upgrade path and follow it. I would suggest you get a T28 upgrade (I make one, or Turbochargers.com, or FP). That is good for ~360hp and doesn't cost that much. The car will not be that hard to tune and you probably wont blow it up. Then by the time you run some 12's, have that dialed and all the supporting mods for it, you will be smart enough to pick a big turbo and know how to use it.
Lots of good info on this site, you just have to be patient and read it all twice.

i have a T3 turbine housing and a T4 turbine housing sitting right next to me, both fit on the same center section. what makes you say that you can't do it?

Alot of turbos will look just like yours. You cant just look at it, you have to actually know what is inside the turbo. However, Z1500 is right, if you have a full garrett, you will not be able to bolt it with your current setup. So, unless you are prepared to spend the money, I suggest you sell them.
