I am looking for an oil cooler setup for my 2g. I could either go with an early model stock unit, or the seemingly popular greddy one for ~$600. I cant afford the greddy one, and even if I could, I couldnt justify it. I was thinking somewhere in the middle. Any of you 2g guys have info about oil cooler setups to share?

i went with a 90 housing with a external core+fan from my local speed shop.
I had the lines custom made.

What size core did you use? Brand, part number, total price etc? I would appreciate it if you could tell me so I could duplicate it. Also, you have pics?

Thanks,

Boostedinaz and I did something pretty close to this...

I did it with a JDM 6bolt so you would need the filter housing as well. It can be found HERE.

Do you really need one? I've been pretty impressed with the stock oil cooler on my 2g. Oil temp never gets over 120C even on a hot day flogging the car around the racetrack for an hour at a time.

The stock, liquid-liquid cooler is also a heater: it brings the oil up to operating temperature more quickly by circulating next to the water jacket fluid, and keeps it at a more stable temperature in cold weather. Its drawback is ham-handed mechanics who crush it, or who don't use a filter with a stable enough gasket that won't blow out.

But don't tell Buck I said so.

sorry my oil cooler pix got lost in cyberspace.
my core+fan was $100
the lines were like $80
