I have begun tuning the AGP RS49. I only have 550cc inj's and the stock sidemount which is the biggest burdeon. I can run 15 PSI without knock but power is lacking. Exhaust is 2.5" mandrel which could be 3" but that is not the cause, at least not most of it.
Spool is quick. Car goes into storage at the end of October and I can then upgrade to 720cc inj's, FMIC and 3" pipes. Any help for what I have to work with? Mark

15 psi on a 50 trim isn't going to feel much different then 15 psi on a 14b. Now when you start turning up the boost to 21 psi and up that's when your going to see a huge difference. I run my 50 trim on a stock sidemount at 19 psi around town when the temp is cooler. I can make a complete run through 4th gear at this boost level and not see any knock. I start to see knock when I make consecutive passes in short time intervals and then the crappy side mount gets heat soaked. The way I look at it, on the street, your not going to do much more then race someone through typically 3rd and usually not back to back so your sidemount will have time to recover. If you have a safc and a logger, just keep turning up the boost slowly to around 19 psi, or when ever you start to see knock and timing retard. With a safc you should be able to adjust where you are seeing knock--and set up at around 19 psi. This should get you by until you get the upgrades you mentioned.

Thanks for undrstnding that I have to work with what i have from the EVO setup I have. I will up boost 1 PSI at a time until I get knock. At least the weather will be cooler for this! Mark

I'm sure you already know, but as you up the boost even from 15 psi to say 16 or 17, your going to see some knock. Just add a few couts to the safc at the rpm range where you are seeing it and untill it goes away then up the boost again to 18, add a few counts to the safc, up the boost to 19 psi.....I think you see where I'm going. Good luck.
