Hi I have a 1992 Eagle Talon TSI AWD 5 spd. Will I be able to beat a 96 mustang gt that has a new exhaust? My mods are: K&N filter, 8mm accell wires, boost set to 14, muffler(just can for now), Slim fan, ported 14b and ported 1g manifold, and about 125 pounds of weight reductions
Thanks andrew

depends a lot on driver. i used to own a 1995 mustang and my first run was a 13.6 but with time i got to a 13.1. i think you should be able to take him , the 4.6 modular motor in the 96 wasnt very fast until the heads could breathe... good luck and post the results, im curious :thumb:

I call bullshit on that ... 96 gt s are slow. Even the 03 cobras only run low 13s so theres no way in hell you went a high 13 ... even off a cliff. Those are 15 second cars ( my friend ran a 14.8 with intake, some suspension, and some different mufflers and that was his BEST. And no he's not a horrible driver, he just lives on the real world where they run 15s.

sorry i wasnt clear... i was using my mustang runs as an example of driver skill changing times. the car had 24lb injectors, 255fp, fpr, long tuber headers, prochamber x pipe, 3.5" catback, msd 6 al, 8.5mm wires, coil blaster, CAI, 75mm maf, bored tb, ur pullies, 1.7rr's, retarded the timing to 14* and i ran it on nitto 555dr's so i launched at about 3000 with little spin.... you people are so quick to talk down on someone in these forums :thumbdown

The mid 90's are slugs. I own an 04 gt as well. That isn't a slug. It runs high 13's. The new cobras are running 12's.

yea the sn95 body style was heavy and had a small 225hp motor.... the fox's and the newer gens are the fastest by far... im still curious as to how the tsi vs sn95 stang turns out

the new mustangs are quick and cobras I have personally seen run low 13s. I believe though with perfect driving and some drag radials 12s are doable.

The mid 90s are slow and this guy was asking about a stock one. Then this btracer comes back and says his mid 90s ran 13s but doesn't mention its modded  .. nobody cares what yours runs that wasn't the question. If yours was stock maybe the original poster would care since that's what his question was. Modded mustang times is probably something talked about on a mustang forum ...

ok read my reply ONE more time..... i simply used my old times as an EXAMPLE of driver skill affecting 1/4 mile times.... i was tryin to say how it depends a lot on how good of a driver each person. i ran over half a second faster after some practice.

racing isnt always about the fastest car, theres a lot more factors to consider.

People have ran 12.5's bone stock with the 03/04 cobras... Was at the track last weekend and a bone stock one ran 12.8. So who ever said low 13's maybe with a bad driver.

96 was the first year of the 4.6 modular motor and they are slow as hell. 96 to 98 GT's are really pretty slow, in 99 (or whatever year they switched to the latest body style) they switched to the new "PI" heads and they then because pretty quick. Some guys do the pi swap on there 96-98's but i havnt seen many and the 1 i did see ran nitrous and went high 12's. Also muscle mustangs and fast fords and 5.0 mustang mag have both gotten bone stock 03/04 cobra's into the 12's. Pulley, exhaust and some intake tubing work on the new cobra's, and these cars pump 500 to the wheels easy. but these are 4 cam motors and a totally different game than the sohc 4.6.

I have a friend with an 03 cobra and his best with it was a 13.1. He is a very good driver but they are very tough to launch with IRS. Its either wheelhop or spinning....With a pulley, chip, exhaust and intake he got it down to a 12.1. And that is with 478whp vs. his stock 370whp (Yes they are underrated from the factory).

i raced 03or02 gt 5 speed the other day from a light. He said it was automatic when we where at the light i don't know why???.

i had him by about a car and at 100.

I didn't launch i actually bogged he got the jump too.

i could tell he wasn't happy

talon got your tongue......
