against much advice, i threw my 3 inch on my car. i found a o2 housing for my car and grinded it like a mother, so that i could use it, but we just coudlnt get the bastard off the car to do the swap. the car sopunds meaner, and pulls much harder, but when i take out the silencer, (and this is no joke) its another car. totally another car. the monster pulls like there is no tomorrow, and i come within a centimeter of blowing the motor. so i leave the sliencer on and havent had any problems. i gotta find me a boost gauge and see what its got to tell me.
the exhaust is a 3inch, no cat , and a revolution muffler with silencer. sounds nice too

damn man, get yourself a boost gauge. my boost gauge is one of the first things i got, but ironically it still isnt isntalled, because i got screwed once from a guagepod, and now lotek is hellllllllllllla laggin. its been like 4-5 monhts since ive been trying to get a a-pillar pod. grr

I'm not sure about his but on my N1 it reduces the tip size from about 4'' to about an 1.5''(at the most). So yes the silencer is quite a big restriction. You can tell the difference at idle, with the silencer in you can fell the pressure of the exaust coming out, but with it off the exaust just rolls out with no pressure on your hand.

ok i have another question. there was a ground strap on the exhaust in the area where the cat. should have been. i heard somehtign about grounding 2nd gens and they will produce more power, but that is for the second o2 sensor. anyone here think of a reason why my exhuast had it if i have a 1st gen with no second o2 sensor? the exhaust is also form a 1st gen.

Don't forget about the Boost guage being a priority dude. I'm almost certain that after you put in the exhaust that you're suffering from boost creep and spiking that thing to probably 20psi or higher. Just get one and velcro it down somewhere for the mean time just like I did so you don't go blowing you engine up.

yea i was about to say your probly hiting insane spikes.. ummm and on a 1G i dont think the o2 sensor works at all if it's not grounded...in any case i would ground it.. you can never hurt something by grounding it... its the other way around that will hurt yea..
