I have a 97 Gsx auto thats running the stock turbo setup, i have been looking to uprgarde but what to-it is a daily driver and i do want it to be a little faster but still safe for the engine- my buddy just gave me the turbo off his gsx manual and i geuss those have bigger turbos, the t25's? will that help putting that into my automatic-is it even an uprgrade? :dsm:

Not an upgrade, as I mentioned earlier in the other thread all 94-99 auto/manuel came with the same size turbo's.

But, how much milage does your turbo have, and how much does his have? if his is in better shape you might just toss it on, it couldn't hurt.

You mentioned a turbo upgrade.......well there are countless, probly 100 different turbo's to choose from, but only a small portion will you be looking at. Just keep reading what other people are doing to get an idea of what it is you want to do with the car and that should help you find a turbo. As for safe for the motor, the 4g63 is pretty stout, good for about 400+ at the crank so, dont be afraid to turn up the boost on your car man. Good luck and happy boosting.

my turbo has 50k and his has 60k but absolutly no shaft play- we got it checked out and he says it is a t25 so would that make a difference?

No there the same exact turbo. A 14b is probably more the upgrade that your looking for but you would need an install kit :talon:

you already have a t25. a 14b from the 1st gen manual trans cars is an upgrade, but if you are going to go through the trouble of doing a turbo swap you may as well get something bigger than that even. a big t28 or big 16g are the most common upgrades for a 2g on the street. they can both make more power than you will probably ever see unless you get really serious into the mods.
