Who has used this particular turbo (pte scm61 internally gated)? Are you happy with it and what horspower numbers were you making(boost and mods to get that number).
Heres my setup 2.3l maf trans, 760 inj, fmic tial bov, ported head 1mm valves. evo mani ported, scm61 and eprom ecu. Havent finished installing everything. the car is a 1g

Same turbo that I run except that I run a P trim turbine wheel instead of the t350 that is standard. Price is the same though. My first trip to the track I went 11.52 @ 127 in my pretty much full weight 2G GSX. So, yeah, I like. :) My setup is not too different from yours, I run a 2.4L, ported head, evo mani, DSMLink.

when do you reach full boost in third gear with that setup swordfish? My 2.4L is nearing completion and Im going to be using my 50 trim for a while, but was looking at this turbo for the future. Whered you order it from to get the p trim instead of the t350?
 
Full boost in 3rd comes at just under 4K. ~ 3800 or so. I ordered it directly from precision and just told Patrick that I wanted the P trim turbine. Any vendor should be able to order for you that way. Its the same price as the T350.

How much boost were you running? Also, how would you rate the tune on your car? This sounds like a similar setup to my car and I am curious about it. Thanks
 
I was running 25 psi since this was the cars maiden voyage and these were the shakedown passes. The tune was pretty much dead on except I was only running 18 degrees of timing. Since then I have added a few degrees. I havent made another trip back to a 1/4 track since then, but I have gone to the local 1000ft track but the clutch gave up. To much torque for a 2600/street disk combo.

that time was on the 2.4 block? Very impressive. I have an externally gated scm61, but I'm still running a 2.0 block with the ross / eagle combo. I'm also planning on running around 24-25 psi at the track and hoping for a mid / high 11 as well. I was getting full boost on the 2.0 in 3rd gear at around 4300. ( 22 psi )

Just give precision a call about that wheel and talk to patrick ... he helped me out quite a bit in the past.
 
Yeah that was on the 2.4. It was on june 5th of this year. Here is the timeslip. Look at that horrible 60ft. :laugh:

wITH A ported evo mani and the intern scm61 what horsepower should I have. check my first post to see my setup?
 
Depends on how competent the tuner is. You should easily be in the 430+whp range. On a similar setup with our red 2.3L car I made 369whp on a 16G just using a logger and AFC. The dyno shop didnt have a wideband at the time.

There really is no standard exhaust wheel. Typically with an engine around 2.0L the T350 wheel is spec'd because it will spool much easier with the smaller displacement. Since there's always a trade off, the P-trim will flow enough to add another 50 horse up top at peak. The 6152 will still flow enough for around 630 peak flywheel horse ;)

There is a guy on here that has that turbo. He runs 12.5@120 at over 30 psi. Built motor and all the trimmings.

Hmm. You may surge the SCM61 alot on your setup. I know RDRKT uses the same compressor/turbine combo on his car, but with an .82a/r turbine housig and SFP manifold. He has made 560AWHP and still surges it some on his. I wouldnt be surprised if your 2.3L acts very much the same, especially with the tiny PTE housing.
 
I have the BR580 (SCM61) and haven't been thrilled with the internal gate. I made 532whp and 665whp(with nitrous) and a huge boost leak that went unnoticed until after the dyno tuning. However I have never been able to keep the boost solid to redline. I've got the actuator rod about as tight as it can go but 32 PSI will usually bleed off to around 29PSI after 7500RPM. With spray, the boost would rise up to 38PSI but quickly settle back to 32PSI. I'm going to probably weld the flapper shut this winter and switch to an external on the manifold.

perhaps your flapper is too large.
