About 1 month ago I ran 15.2 consistently in my FWD 97 Talon TSI with a K&N, Dejon upper intercooler pipe, and a 1st gen. BOV. My gauge (autometer) read I was holding 15 psi and spikes up to 17 psi(after shifting).

Now I just installed my Hallman Boost Controller the boost will hit 15 PSI and start working its way down to 11 PSI shouldnt it stay within 1-2 of the max setting(15psi) not back to the stock 11 PSI.

Needless to say I had awful times with the Hallman running my best of 15.6 and worst of 15.9(stock I did better than this)

What am I doing wrong?? Faulty Hallman?? Heat from radiator next to Hallman??

I dont want more than the "safe 15 psi" max on my stock turbo.

Thanks

Make sure you have it hooked up correctly. Does the boost change at all when you adjust it? I'm pretty sure they are the same basic design as the JoeP's so thats what I'm going to go off of. On your compressor housing there is a nipple, do you have a hose going from that nipple to the bottom of the boost controller? And the side nipple on the boost controller should go to the nipple on the wastgate. I doubt there is anything wrong with the boost controller because they are so simple, there really isn't to much that can go wrong. Good luck

Mike

Make sure it is hooked up right, if it is hooked up fine then does the boost soike to 15 and then settle at 11? its ok if the boost spikes but then settles down. I have a hallmen set @15 psi when I floor it the boost spikes to about 18 or 19 but then settles back down to 15. your fine if the boost spikes real quick and then settles back down. where it settles down at is what your MBC is set at. so turn it up some just make sure it settles to what you want!

You need to turn the boost up. I would guess that you have no preload on the spring inside the Halman and it's leaking. When you shake an MBC it shouldn't make noise, if you have no preload on the spring it will rattle when you shake it.

I have it hooked up to compressor housing and wastegate so that seems fine. 1st and 2nd gear seem to hold 14-15 PSI. but 3rd just stays at 15 till about 4500 rpm then drops to 11 and stays.

I'll try turning the boost up, but is it dangerous with stock exhaust???

Just looks bad when I see spikes of 17-18 dont want to hurt my daily driving vehicle too much!

Ill be back at the track next wednesday, so we'll see if turning it up gets me back to the 15.2 I was at.
