What would give me the best performance for my money? I'm not looking to spend a ton of money on a manifold. I'm planning to keep using my stock 14b turbo on my 1g eclipse, i MIGHT upgrade to a big 16g but that's highly unlikely. I was looking through the exhaust manifold section of the site and i noticed a few w/ in my price range the Mitsubishi Japan 2g Manifold and Mitsubishi Japan EVO III Manifold. I also noticed that some people use a '95 ported exhaust manifold. So what i want to know is which one would give me the best performance w/ my current turbo setup? And if i get one of the first two manifolds i mentioned, then should i get them ported? I do plan on eventually getting a full 3" exhaust later on as well. Any help or comments would be appreciated.

The 2G is the same as the 95. That's the most common, and best for your application. The EVO manifold is VERY similiar to the 2G/95, except the collector is larger, which means it will simply requires less porting.

that really doesn't look like a whole lot was done. Does the porting really make all that much of a difference? I'm just curious.

Yea, do the porting in the collector, it helps exhaust flow alot, especially if you port out the inlet of the turbine housing as well.

There are VFAQ's for porting the turbine housing and O2 housing too.

well form what ive heard, the evoIII manifold is bigger than a 2g ported. wouldnt getting a evoIII manifold ported be best??

Check again $80 is just for the porting service. The 2G manifold itself should be around $175-200. The EVO manifold is $210

soo what're you saying? i would get more performance out of a ported evo III manifold? I can get porting done for free. So that's not really an issue.:thumb:

The performance would be about the same after you ported the 2G manifold. Lots of 10-12sec cars use ported 2G manifolds, they're cheap, reliable, don't crack, and have adequate flow.

The 2g and the EVO manifold are the same except the collector on an EVO is bigger and the EVO has a higher nickle content which is more resistant to cracking. I have an EVO manifold. The biggest difference is the EVO requires less portwork than a 2g manifold.

Personally, I have a 95 ported manifold. If I was suggesting one, I might have to go with an Evo manifold simply because you'll do less porting to achieve the same thing, leaving the manifold with more material - which means even better chances of not cracking.

Spoolup is quicker assuming you do all the associated portwork needed including the turbine housing and O2 sensor housing. I didn't notice any more lag than normal but this may be different with bigger turbos.

yo i need help i have a 1g turbo and i was told i could stick it on a 2g what manifold will i need and does it need to be customized
