I don't know MSD's part numbers, but the stock DSM ignition really doesn't need any help. Use the money elsewhere.

If you have the N/T 2G motor, the 6AL will not work. You need the msd DIS2 or a distributorless compatable ignition.

If you get the DIS2 you will need the tach adapter. 8612 is the part number on the tach adapter, paid 60 bucks for it if memory serves me right. The msd dis 2 was free I really like the 2 step function, My launches are very consitent, and I can build a couple psi at about 30% throttle(where I launch) at 4750rpms while 2 steppin'.

I noticed that I can run a .030 spark plug gap without blowing out the spark at 24 psi with the install of the msd. Before I had to run .028

Did I notice a performance gain from upgrading? nope... Gas mileage went up by quite a few miles though. That will make it worth it worth while in the long run. Especially with gas prices in the bay area. 2.40/gallon for 91 octane donkey piss?!?!?!?!

-alcohol or propane injection is a MUST!

what if i dont get the tach adapter? do i need it if i have a aftermarket tach?

On 90's the ignition will not work at all without the tach adapter. The msd I have now came off of a Single Overhead Cam 95 Dodge neon. My friend installed the msd and had issue with it misfiring at higher rpms. He thought it was a defective ignition box, but I told him he needed the tach adapter. So I got the ignition from him, and installed the tach adapter, and so far no problems. Im am 99% sure you need the tach adapter as it says so in the instructions
