grrrr. mbc, boost prob... please help

re. my dad's 96 Talon Tsi.....couple days ago, we put in a MBC, and it seemed ok, possible plug gap prob tho...anyway things have gone worse...the typical, boost gauge goes up, all you here is a loud whhoooosh, and the odd time black smoke. now i am CERTAIN its a blown hose some*freakin'*where, but i can t find it. We then took off the MBC and went back to stock just to be safe...same problem exists. IC hose are tight, everything else SEEMS ok. The black smoke tells me its runnin pretty rich duh, but where s the leak?? When driving w/ the windows down, it SOUNDS like its coming from under the pass. door. (and no its not the door not closed ) Anyway, any help here would be great...thanks guys and great site.

you might want to try an intake leak tester found at www.vfaq.com if you have a leak, you will hear it, if not i would check out those plugs and wires

Passenger door..... did you inspect intercooler ?

It sounds like maybe one of the hoses may have a crack or something in it, usually happens around the IC. Definately a boost leak of some kind though.

problem solved...thx heaps guys....took the wheel well plastic off, lC had a hose half off. I think it had been there for awhile as a support bolt was gone, but it wasn t AS noticeable until we turned the boost up. Thanks again.
