Ya, I just got my awd back together with it's newly ported 14b but, unfortunatly I did not port the waste gate passage or turbine outlet ext. It creeps to 20psi and hits timing retardation. I did not think it would creep with the entire stock exhaust and cat. The o2 housing is completly gutted out and port matched. I'm thinking it might need a 34mm flapper or, do you guys think I could I get by with the stock flapper? It does not look like a 34mm flapper would fit but, mabey I'm wrong? Thanks in advance!
 
I just had the exact same problem. A new boost controller won't solve anything.

Do yourself the favor and pull the turbo again (only takes 1/2 hour) and port the waste gate so the door can swing all the way open, and remove some material leading into the waste gate (turbine inlet) so more exhaust gases flow into it, and you shouldn't have a problem.

I did this yesterday, took about two to three hours for removal and installation. Do it right the first time or you'll be kicking yourself in the long run. 10-11 psi now holds rock solid through all the gears.

There pictures kicking around somewhere on here on exactly where to port, do a search.

I would definately open up the actual wg hole also. Take a black perm. marker and trace the circle then port it right to the edge of the outline. worked fine for me.
 
Ok, I will take it apart today and port as much as I can. I was just not shure if the 34mm flapper was worth it on a 14b so I'll go with the stock one. Is there any way to check the wastegate actulater to see if it is working corectly?

Hey, guys I took my car apart today and I had a big vacume leak in the tee fitting going to the wastegate. It was broke. I ran a vacume line from the j-pipe streit to the wastegate and it held 9psi through all gears. I plan to get a boost controler soon and a 3" tb exhaust. I am hoping it will hold after that but, if not I will port, port, port. Thanks guys for all your help and I hope this helps sombody.
 
i just put a 14b on my car last week with similar mods and i ported everything but i have the apexi avcr boost controller and my shit dont move past where i set it...15 psi is 15 psi hehe only time i thank buyin this 300 dollar pain in my ass
 
you have a pretty nice mod list and your still gettin some knock? whats it reading at because ill have your same set up by the end of the month on my 14b but ill be runnin on 94 octane if it makes much of a difference....also hows 18 psi without a FMIC? id imagine the smic is pretty heat soaked after 1 or 2 runs
