Thinking of doing even more stuff since my car is still in the shop, Pistons, Rods, valves, lightweight springs and titanium retainers. I wanted to know what type of rods everyone would suggest.

Depends on what your goals are for the car. Eagles, Crower, Pauter all are very strong and many have had success with them. The Crowers are the lightest of the bunch while the Pauter X beams are the heaviest. The Eagles fall somewhere in between.

I second Eagle Rods.
The local speed shop where I live is running 6xxhp on eagle rods and they hold up great. Plus I also use them in my own car.
It's more of a matter of proper tuning, with proper tuning the stock 1g big rods can hold a boatload of HP. So I'd say that Eagle Rods can handle virtually anything a 4g63 can throw at them.

eagles are alright... i havent heard a whole lot about them but i heard that crowers hold like 900 hp for there steel rods and a Sh*T load more for there titanium rods now aviable for DSMs. i doubt anyone will ever need the titanium rods tho, ud have to have like over 900 hp which is pretty uncomon. id go with crower just because they have a good repulation which is a good thing.

I have eagles. They will hold anything that a "Normal" (I use the term loosy) would throw at them and they are cheap. They only weigh a gram or two over the crowers. And they are amost half the price as the crowers.

Thanks allot for the recommendations. Here is what I ended up ordering last night. JE pistons, Eagle Rods, ARP Cylinder Head Studs, ARP Main Crankshaft Bolts, ARP Connecting Rod Bolts, Titanium Valve Springs with Retainers, and Stainless Steel Valves.

I think the Eagle rods come with fasteners, you can probably return the ARP rod bolts, unless you want to use them for S&G.

Did you order Cams too? Nice parts list. I'll be orderign a similiar list of parts in a couple weeks.

Eagles are the lightest they weigh 1.28 lbs, and crower weighs 1.33.

Ended up at the end with JE Pistons .020 oversized, Eagles Rods, Crower racing springs and retainers, Nitrite coated valves 1.0mm oversized, clevite bearings, arp cylinder head studs, arp main crankshaft bolts, arp connecting rod bolts, knife edge and balanced crankshaft, and a concept racing crank bearing alignment race kit (helps prevent crankwalk).

Our race car has ross pistons and pauter rods. Yes the pauter rods are very heavy but they seem very very strong.

Just curious but at what kind of power levels do you guys think the 264 runs out of breath at. i would think that they should be pretty suitable for 450whp.... How much power are you planning on putting down?

You don't need 272's unless you want 500+ hp. I will buy 264's because I still have stock ECU with VPC and 272's won't idle with the VPC. There's lots of people making big hp with the 264's.
