ECU question

Will an ECU from an AWD work in a FWD car? I thought it was all machaincal. It was from a 91 AT AWD to a 92 AT FWD. It did NOT work! Shuld it have and I have some other problem or is it exact swaps only????

Thats weird. I got an EPROM ECU from a 91 FWD car and it worked just fine in my 92 AWD car, both 5 speed. I would look at the ECU itself and see if the one you got has bad caps or other internal problems. Thats all I can think of that would cause it to not work correctly.

As long as they are both from a car with the same transmission, they will be fine.

All 90 MT ECU's are the same

All 91-94 MT ECU's are the same
All 91-94 AT ECU's are the same

However, some may be california emissions, which can be removed with a simple resistor change.
