I need new motor mounts but I really dont want prothane ones as I know the whole car will shake violently and thats no good for a daily driver so my question is are there any performance motor mounts out there that arent prothane and if so where can I get it? If not I guess Ill just get OEM mounts through partznet

honestly if you still have your balance shafts the poly mounts are not bad at all. Otherwise, I dont know of any alternatives

Depends on the old or new style Prothane's.

The new style ones are supposedly much softer, but still stiffer than the ES ones.

The old ones are rock hard, and shake like WOAH.

I haven't felt a car with the new ones yet however, but I know I've sat in a few friends 2g's, with full prothanes, built motors, no BS's, 264/272, and 272/272 combo's, and it's really not that bad what so ever. Just remember a rubber band around your keys.

Contact Scott at Victory Performance for the new style mounts. :)

Larry when you were up did you ever drive in my car? The prothane mounts shake the car a lot more than stock but I got use to it in a few months so much so that when I get into a DSM with stock mounts it feels like something is wrong. In your fwd application I think you would notice a lot less torque steer and slightly better traction. If you want to do the most good with the least amount of vibration just change the front motor mount.

What about the motor mount inserts like RRE sells, or filling them with Windo Weld? How does that compare with the harsh ride of the prothane motor mounts. I was thinking of doing that to reduce wheel hop on hard launches. I read about it at this site:

http://www.raktron.com/misc/mt.htm

Sorry LarryD that this doesn't really help you since you need a whole new motor mount. I still thought it was a related topic.

I haven't decided either. One of my mounts has a little tear also but I haven't decided on prothane or not.

well i have crower stage 2 cams and they are damned lobey.. the car shakes alot as is so I cant imagine what itd be like with prothane inserts.. but the engine is moving around ALOT at idle and I think its cuz the mounts are bad.. the flex pipe on my downpipe broke and I think its due to this..

I think we are just going to fill the mount with urethane from the hardware store

I put the prothan motor mounts in. Well at first its pretty violent but run you re-learn how to drive it to keep from shaking as much i like them a lot.

sounds good. I cant wait to put my prothane motor mount kit on next week.

I use the Prothanes, and all 4 of them. It was a bit of a shock at first, but its really not that bad at all. Seriously.

The only time it is sorta bad is when you lug the engine. Shouldnt do that anyway, so no biggie.

I think it is getting better week by week as well, as they seat in or something. Better in the warm weather too, harder when cold.

Happy with them tho. Engine does NOT move in the bay. Even with a prybar :)

What difference other than some vibration did you notice w/ the prothanes? i wonder if this helps shifting as described and 60' times.

any tips removing the trans side and rear mounts on an AWD? i know the front and t-belt side are easy.

I notice less driveline jerkyness, no flopping around of the engine, and I'd say better 60' due to less slop, but I never ran it with the stockers at the track.

Also, the engine does not move, so you need less soft parts on your intercooler pipes, intake pipes etc. They do not need to flex anymore :)

and it really doesnt vibrate all that much.

sounds great! im stilling waiting till i get my prothanes. should be in the mail mid this week. How did you removing the mounts in the rear and trans? those look hard to get to

I have the Prothane motor mounts on mine(ALL of them) and the car does shake at idle but its not the worse thing in the world after the first week you will get used to them. I think its defenetly worth it but to each his own just look into installation as they are a B*Tch to install.

im gettin my engine swapped pretty soon, and am debating between the prothanes and the ES MM...i might go with the prothanes..iono. but hey im sure the girls will love the vibrating.:D

Go all out and get PROTHANES

the MOTOR will like it and the GIRLS will definitely LOVE it!!

and btw i just got my Prothanes in the mail today =) ill let you know about the install and how it is.

I like the prothanes, I think I got the rough ones.

With a 3 inch exhuast, and no balance shaft the car isnt going to ride like a honda accord anyways. So go all out and put more power to the ground.

I was wheel hopping in my gsx. And now I just chirp the tires instead.

waz up guys, I bought the prothane motor mounts and I have a problem. There is no way that I can insert them. The mount is too big and its says in the instruction to remove the steel sleeve but its useless. Please help me. :barf:

When you remove (either by pressing or burning) the stock rubber mount, you also have to take the metal trim ring with it.

If you didn't, this explains your fitment issues.

Otherwise, put some dish soap on that bi*** and crank down the vise.

Thanks man, i'll go ahead and do that. but I know it's gonna be a biatch!

Another q? will that be my last option beacuse I already feel the pain and the cuts on my hands or should I just take them to a welding shop to get'em removed?
