1G Is this a '90 or '91 ECU?

I have a '91 Talon AWD 5spd. The motor is a '91, but I'm not sure about the ECU.

I recently took it out because my cap leaked and ruined the board. The MD# on top of the ECU cover is MD145903. This # corresponds to ECU's from 3/89 to 6/90 (as per the VFAQ). I thought that it should have been MD166262 (6/90-6/92).

Could this just be an ECU that was made during that time and put into a '91? I know a few of the wires are different on the '90/'91 ECU's.

How can you tell the difference between them/which one I have?

Thanks,
Mike

I'm pretty sure you can only use the 1990 ECU with a 1990 Motor and sensors. My buddy has a 90 and we thought his caps could have been blown so we swapped a good 91 ECU in and it wouldn't start where is 90 would.

OK...

So does the ECU part number (MD#) correspond to the manufacture date of the ECU, or the manufacture date of the automobile?

My car is a '91 but the ECU# MD145903 indicates dates of 3/89 to 6/90. Would that mean that my ECU was made then but is a "'91" ECU?

Does anyone know the colors of the #14 and #6 wires?

If I have a '91 motor the I should have a '91 ECU, right? How could I tell? I believe my car must have been a very early '91 as I also have one of the older transfer cases that was used on the '90 also (different metal).

Thanks
