I got a sweet deal on a 6bolt 1g head and it came with the intake manifold. Here's my questions:

1. Can I re-use the 6bolt 10mm hex head bolts since they are reusable, unlike the 2g torque-to-yeild head bolts?

2. I want to use the 1g CAS, by wiring both my cam and crank sensor wires to the 1g CAS, can i remove the sensor and sensor-plate on the crank?

3. The 1g head lookds to be in good condition. Is it 100% neccisary to have the head decked? Or can I clean both the head and block really good and use a new HG with light copper RTV on both sides?

4. The 1g head didnt come with the cam gears. can I use my 95 cam gears? (Remember, i have that stupid cam sensor on the intake cam gear side.)

Also, any tips from you guys that have done the 1g-head swap is helpful!

thanks,

If I remember right, the 6bolt Head studs are slightly wider than the ones used on 7bolts. I just used a set of 7bolt head bolts. (Damn ARP's didn't come in on time  )

It's easier to just wire in a 97-99 Cam Angle Sensor. This is what I did as well.

If you aren't 100% sure both surfaces are perfectly flat, get them decked. You'll regret it if they aren't flat and you put it together anyways.

You can use your cam gears.

Awsome thanks. BTW since your offline, Did you really have to make a new bracket for the Igniter assembly to where the position of where it was on the 2g intake manifold, or can I just let hit 'hang'? Also, can I use my 2g EGR or do I have to use the stock 1g egr?

thanks,

If you're using the 1G manifold you'll need its accessories. You can make a coil bracket out of sheet metal easily enough.

I think the waterpipe on a 92-94 is different from a 90-91. I was pulling parts from a late 90 model and everything is as the roadrace and turboawd website indicates...except that on the waterpipe that I got, it doesn't have the nipple that leads to the oil cooler located near the entrance of where the waterpipe meets the water pump. Here you can see that I circled it in blue:

Definetly something important that these sites should know about for people doing the swap. But the 90 waterneck and thermosate seems to be the same as the 92-94's.
