I just bought the AGP 50 trim full garrett kit. My engine has 150k on it, but has 150 compression across the board and no more than 12% leakage on any cylinder. I don't know how old the head gasket is so should I go to the trouble of changing it or do you think it will be alright? I have never run a big turbo like this, so this is all new to me aside from what I hear.

I wish you luck keeping the motor together. I would get a Cometic HG, ARP head studs, and pray. What supporting mods do you have?

dont fix it if its not broken..you could do a leakdown to make sure there isnt any problems.

i would just put it on and make sure you get a good tune and just run it and if something happens, then deal with it.

oops didnt see that...like i said, eventually it will go and you'll have to put in the arps and new HG..but its really up to you whether you want to do it now, or wait till something happens...i guess the neg. side of waiting is if something does blow then it could cause more damage then just the HG.

and be careful with the cometic HG as well...theres a couple good threads in advanced about tricks to getting it to seal well..you need really smooth surfaces on the head and block.

I have been told that the stock HG can hold a lot of boost, so I guess I will just cross my fingers. Thanks for the input about the Cometic threads!

Our headgaskets don't just wear out... I would just install the arp' one at a time, in the order the service manual says.
