headgasket question

I know this has been asked before but I'm too lazy to search . I have the 4 layered metal headgasket and I'm putting the motor back together in a few days. The block is decked and the head is as well. I'm using arp studs. Do I need to use any of the copper spray or anything with the metal gasket? Also what kind of compression change does the metal gasket cause? Thanks.

nobody has installed the metal one??? I did a search and I just found stuff on the regular composite one.

Don't try to bump your posts, give them a couple of days to sprout answers.

I always use copper spray, and on most gaskets. I've had good luck with it.

You aren't critical enough to see any worthwhile compression difference in the gasket choices.

Metal will be fine, especially with studs.

Just some food for thought.

My dad did a head gasket on a jeep (older one) and its used a metal headgasket stock. He just put the gasket in there, and it leaked right away.

He then did some researching and found he should use copper spray, so he did that, still leaked.

Then he got ahold of a service manual for it and it said to use this spray gasket sealer with the metal headgasket, did so and no leaks.

So that is what I am using with my cometic gasket.

Not sure on DSMs but on Supras whenever changing to a MHG the block and the head have to be machined to achive the smoothest surface or lapped with a lapping tool, otherwise it leaks.

And also make sure that the head is not warped

yea the block and head are both machined. But what spray now? Copper or is there something else to make it seal better??

Im gonna use Permatex spray-a-gasket Sealant on mine.
