Hey, hope this doesnt belong in the newb section, if it does please move it.
Here is my situation. I have a 95tsi awd, with a mostly stock 7bolt. Its leaking oil most likely from the Balance shafts. Since I will need to have the engine pulled to fix anyway, I figure what a great time to rebuild. I also have a 90 Laser RS turbo, it was non running. I have already pulled the engine on this one. The problem though is that 2 of the 4 bolts that attach to the tranny are busted off.
I plan on building and engine, with performance pistons, rods, cams, and the whole nine yards. Which would be the best of the 4 choices.
1) Pull and build the stock 7 bolt
2) Rebuild the non running 6 bolt, if its even possible with the 2 broken tranny mounts.
3) Buy a NT 4g63, rip it apart and replace internals. Stock NT's are dirt cheap.
4) Buy a prebuilt race engine from magnus or bushcer. expensive.....
I will be doing the work with the help of a "real" mechanic, who will let me use his shop to do what I can myself, and work with me to do what I can't. I have 1500 to start, and can afford to spend a grand a month building the car.
Some opinions would really help, as I need to get started asap. I am not looking for advice persay on what brand rods, or size of injectors, kind of turbo and such. I have done plenty of reading in that area.
My goal is for a reliable 11 second car <cross fingers>
