when installing a new turbo, do you think it is easier to install the turbo with the manifold on the head, or easier to install the turbo to the manifold while its off the head???

Install the turbo then the manifold becuase you will have to tighten the oil and coolant lines before installing the manifold and those bolts are a bi*** to get to with the manifold in the way.

figures, what isnt a bi*** to do on these cars, LOL, but hey the outcome outweighs the time spent on these cars by far. Thanks

on all the DSM's I have ever worked on are secured with Squeeze Hose Clamps.

I suggest for simplicity. remove old turbo from manifold.

swap all lines that are to used on new turbo over and tighten.

Put two bolts in manifold and finger start them into the exhaust housing. Then slowly tighten them to raise the turbo up. NO AIR IMPACT.

Then start the others and tighted them all evenly.

Then all you have to do is connect the oil feed and turbo drain and coolant hoses.

I NEVER remove the manifold completely unless I am porting the step out of it.

Hope that helps.
