this is obviuosly in the wrong section but im bringing this back from the dead.
anyone have experience with these bearings?

They are popular with other car models and are respected with engine builders. I wouldn't hesitate to try them.

:thumb: They're excellent.

I pulled apart my built 7-bolt late last year (leaned out one cylinder  ) and the first thing I looked at was the #3 thrust/main bearing. 0.006 thrust clearance and when removed BOTH sides had the same thickness. Engine had about 2500 stop-and-go city miles, and about 20 track runs.

King's have better oiling for the thrust faces than Clevites IMHO (King left, CL77 right).

awesome thanks guys, they are on ebay for $35 and $40 for rod and mains

what do they usually cost, i actually havent seen store prices yet.

You (92RedMan) need to look at the fine print. This is a car part, and obviously there are alot of years :dsm: built 4G63 and 4G64-type engines , but King also provides some pretty obvious other manufacturers part numbers, including Clevite's. In fact, every box of King's I've bought has a smaller Clevite P/N printed below the barcode.

For example, 6-bolt rod bearings for CL77's are P/N CB-1120P, a common P/N for those of us 7-bolt'ers using Eagle rods that specify 6-bolt bearings for some odd reason. Second from the top here. Also known as King P/N CR4481AM STD (STD size because, as ALL DSM'ers know, we NEVER EVER grind a :dsm: crank undersize (unless we $pend $300 to re-nitride it)).

Your 6-bolt main bearings are CL77 P/N MS-2043, AKA King P/N MB5209AM STD. Third from the top here.
