new to DSM as you can tell, looking at the different stages and such for modding, just wondering, what kind of gains do you get with magnus type intakes manifolds... been searching for some information on them but cant seem to find much about those type of manifolds(steel sheet)

if you can point me to another post or some imput would help, this mod is along time away, but just curious

They say around 54 whp.

With proper supporting mods. Slapping this thing on alone isn't going to net you 54whp.

I put in on my daily driver street car with a 50 trim, 720's, safc, 272's, 3 inch turbo back etc...

Felt like fairly minimal gains, although I picked up 1 MPH in the 1/8 mile.(from 89 to 90) The track days were less then a week apart and the faster pass with the magnus was in air that was 30-40 degrees warmers. I think 15-20 hp is a nice realistic expectation for pump gas...

My first pass ever on race gas though it did blast down the track to a 119.7 mph, full weight, pump gas boost, and I just leaned it out another 10%, no tuning. So my car definitley has some decent top end....

Also, its off boost torque is VERY good. Unnoticeable from stock. Amazing. And its prolly about 7 lb's lighter.

So over all, there are NO downsides, saves you some weight, but the gains are not quite as amazing as people like to claim....about half of what people like to claim seems reasonable....

your car is stock none.

Intake manifolds typically are one of the later things you do when modifying a DSM. The 1G intake manifold has supported cars up to and over 550 hp. At that power range there are a lot more benefits to replacing it but you should be fine on a stock one for quite some time.

Even though I have limited amount of time using my 2G magnus SMI.

I'd say the 54whp gain. isn't ontop of yoru peak HP. It's that your car maintains the peak HP for a longer period of time.

My car used to die off at 6200rpms with the stock intake manifold running 264/272 cams. But now with the Magnus it seems to hold steady almost to read line (8K for me)

I agree it's one of the last things to do. And I don't think putting an intake on with out upgraded cams would be that benificial.

i was just looking at random parts, and there wasnt a decent description to the part... thanks for the replys, and i know thats like at least 2 years away from being under my hood, doubt ill even get there... thanks for the links and info :thumb:
