From the top, engine burned oil real bad (like 1qt/day and cyliders 1&4 were so full of oil/carbon it flaked off the piston tops in sheets), especailly at startup, dignosed as the rings because it has a rebuilt head and a new 14B. So I tear it down and send the block to be checked out. The oil control rings were almost solid w/ carbon and they did not expand on removal, bores looked good.
Just got a call from the machine shop, they had to deck my block .006 (6 thousanths). The bores were fine so they just honed it.
This has me worried that I diagnosed the problem wrong. Maybe headgasket? A faulty rebuild on the head? Defective turbo? IDK im kinda worried that I'll get it back in and it will still burn oil.
Also how much will the decking rais compression and throw off my valve timing?
Thanks,
-Dustin
