So people with IPT high stall torque converter, what kind of stall are you getting out of it?

Someone needs to do some research. The stall is setup taking your engine and turbo setup into account. Every converter is different depending on how it was made.

IPT restall, 2800 on the brakes with no bottle. Sinister 9" (very early version last year), 3000 on the brakes, no bottle. Both of these woke up with nitrous.

Sinister 8" level 1a, 4500rpms no bottle. 5000rpms with a 35 shot on the brakes. Sinister level 5 5000-5500rpms off the bottle, on the brake.

Sinister 8" converters vs ipt restall and 9" review?

The restall and the 9" give you better coupling/less slip. So you trap better and can also E.T. better.

Sinister 8" converters will let you get by with almost no nitrous, but don't couple very well on the top end. Although you will be able to launch it easily and get down the track without much fuss, but I didn't like hearing my engine in the 8800rpm range the whole run.

Thank you for some feedback.

I currently have an IPT high stall converter. I bought it and about 3 months later the Sinister converters started coming out to be tested.

I've currently only ran a best of 7.0@89mph 1.6 60ft Buschur 20G running 28psi street tires on Q16 shifting at 7800-8K rpms. I couldn't stall the converter fully I believe as around 3500-3800rpms due to shitty old stock rear brakes the rear wheels would spin at the line. I haven't been back to the track yet to retest. I have since changed out the brakes and have a CNC staging brake along with a 100-150 wet shot and hoosier QTP's. I'm hoping with either with some spray or just on the brake with the new brake setup and I get a good 3800-4K rpm on the stall. In the future I will be installing a FP3794HTA and other mods to support the larger turbo. I know the sinister converter is probably better (even though Jesse Abele was able to get into the 8's with a IPT converter) but will the IPT be fine for now and the benifit of the sinister be minimal.

Stick to the IPT and your plan. The gains will hardly be worth the effort, time and money in going to another converter. You're on the right track.

I need to pick my convertor YESTERDAY. I need help. 1g motor in a 2g. Magnus cast, twin scroll 3794, kelford 272s might be switching to 280s
