Hey guys I need a little help here. I recently picked up a 1995 Eagle Talon TSi AWD Auto 6 bolt swapped. The car ran decent for about 2weeks and all of a sudden I tried to start it this morning and it wouldn't. Now seeing as I just bought the car I really don't know who did all the work or swapped the motor.
Onto the problem, when I crank the motor I am getting a loud scratching sound towards the back of the engine by the transmission. At first the started selenoid didn't seem like it was catching properly so I figured it might be an issue with the starter so I pulled it out and checked it. Low and behold I found one of the teeth on the starter was cracked. Well a trip to Autozone and I purchase a new starter. I installed the starter and it is catching but still has a loud scratching sound towards the transmission side of the motor.
I began to do the basic checks and crossed my fingers. A compression test resulted 150-150-150-150. (good)
I checked all four plugs for spark (good)
Checked for fuel flow at the pressure regulator return and upon cranking fuel came out.
I took a short video of me cranking the motor its about 10mb I will upload it and provide the link so u can see / hear whats going on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9b5SlCNbSU
I am suspecting the last owner did NOT get the Ipt adapter kit and something horribly went wrong in the flexplate area. But still don't understand why this would cause the car not to start. would a broken or cracked flexplate cause the car not to start ? I mean its rotating just not starting
Any help will be appreciated even from those of you that destroyed stock flexplates and if the car would or would not start afterwards.
Thanks in advance
