Hey guys I need a little help here. I recently picked up a 1995 Eagle Talon TSi AWD Auto 6 bolt swapped. The car ran decent for about 2weeks and all of a sudden I tried to start it this morning and it wouldn't. Now seeing as I just bought the car I really don't know who did all the work or swapped the motor.

Onto the problem, when I crank the motor I am getting a loud scratching sound towards the back of the engine by the transmission. At first the started selenoid didn't seem like it was catching properly so I figured it might be an issue with the starter so I pulled it out and checked it. Low and behold I found one of the teeth on the starter was cracked. Well a trip to Autozone and I purchase a new starter. I installed the starter and it is catching but still has a loud scratching sound towards the transmission side of the motor.

I began to do the basic checks and crossed my fingers. A compression test resulted 150-150-150-150. (good)
I checked all four plugs for spark (good)
Checked for fuel flow at the pressure regulator return and upon cranking fuel came out.

I took a short video of me cranking the motor its about 10mb I will upload it and provide the link so u can see / hear whats going on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9b5SlCNbSU

I am suspecting the last owner did NOT get the Ipt adapter kit and something horribly went wrong in the flexplate area. But still don't understand why this would cause the car not to start. would a broken or cracked flexplate cause the car not to start ? I mean its rotating just not starting

Any help will be appreciated even from those of you that destroyed stock flexplates and if the car would or would not start afterwards.

Thanks in advance

I would have thought the TC would have the teeth where the starter would meet. Yes there is an adapter you need to get for a six bolt swap. Maybe the problems lies there. I would think you will need to drop your tranny

It sounds to me like there is something out of alignment and it's slipping.

Contact buschur and tell them what you have in the car, and see if they can help you out at all. I have a feeling the adapter plate for the trans is bad or missing somehow, leading things to get wonky. I believe they make almost all the parts you need to make things smooth again.

ok today went over the entire connectors unplugged them and checked/cleaned them out. I still have the same problem of no start. Also to add, I bought Starting fluid and sprayed it in the throttle body elbow with the butterfly open. The motor didn't even hint to start while cranking. I'm still wondering about if a flexplate is damaged or broken would that cause the motor not to start.

I don't want to waste a weekend pulling the tranny to find out everything is good. By the way I can't get into too hard of a job yet until I get the car into the new garage we are renting next week. So I'm trying to eliminate all the simple stuff first.

Not much on 2G's but it sound like there is a alinment problem like stated in other post and is sound like it might have a bad tooth on the flywheel also as it sounded like a bad spot on every revolution .Might take a close look at all the teeth on it .If you have a logger see if it has rpm, timing ,injector pulse ect. when you are cranking it over to see if the ecu is working .
