I've been doing some searching and know it is bad to flush a tranny that's experiencing problems.

So my question pertains to just that. If you are installing end clutches/manual valve/shift kit you have to drain off whatever ammount of fluid comes out to pull the pan (or clutch pack). When draining this fluid you are not fulshing the trans, but when you add more fluid back in is this bad?

I would very much like to do these mods to my trans but it's esperiencing some OD issues (hence the desire for an end clutch kit). I would be refilling what i need to with Amsoil or Diamond ATF and black bottle lube gaurd for AT's.

I just want to make sure the drain and refill isn't an issue before i do this.

The trans has around 135k on it. So i know it needs a full rebuild, but i need it to last till next summer or at least into spring.

Any help would be awesome!
Thanks

Your fine. A flush is when you get the fluid out of the converter as well as the trans. Getting a simple trans fluid changed shouldnt be much of a problem. Just add the amount of fluid you take out and your fine. Yes, there is a chance it could make problems worse, I wont lie, but draining off a little shouldnt hurt your OD problem. Another thing, if your doing the shift kit and end clutches yourself, I cannot STRESS to you how bad you need to keep things sterile. Anything on your solenoids, clutches, or in your valve body can really screw the trans operations up. Just a heads up.

I've got a buddy who has modded auto trans's before helping me out. We're getting gloves and doing it in his clean garage/paint booth. I'm sure i will be alright for a while even if i don't do anything as it isn't bad at all, just a little slip into OD under decent load.

If i had the money right now i'd just have it rebuilt, but i just bought a buschur motor, and had to throw down 3k in tools for high performance schooling. So funds are extremely low, it's also helping a lot that i quit smoking. But that's a whole different story.

Not sure what kind of OD problems you have ,but end clutches would be a good guess ,but if it work some times and not some or intermitedly I would ckeck the caps in the TCU as they are just as prone to fail as the engine computer capacitors are .Check them anyway !
