ATF temp

I am about to install an ATF temp gauge. I was wondering what is the max temp I should see and what is safe. I remember seeing a thread about this, but I can't find it anymore. Spent the last hour searching... I give up. Can someone give me a hint?

Ideal transmission temp is 150-190, anything above 210-220 is probably cause for concern.

Thanks again John! What will we do without you. Maybe this can be added to the "Extending Automatic Transmission Life" thread. It would probably help out a lot of people.

A few more questions, where should the temperature probe be? I was thinking I can T into the return line. Would that give me accurate enough reading? Also, what is the best set up:

A: tranny -> stock cooler -> B&M cooler -> tranny
B: tranny -> B&M cooler -> stock cooler -> tranny

Does it matter if I mount the B&M cooler in front or behind the stock cooler? Or that depends on if I pick A or B?

thanks,
