Hey guys, I just painted my 3rd gen wheels I ordered off of ebay following some instructions from the board here. I'm still trying to decide whether I should paint the lip as well, what do you guys think? Lip painted? Or left to shine?

Are they? I have no idea, I bought them off ebay, and they were listed as 2003 Eclipse GTS or GT wheels, something like that. They were exactly the ones I wanted, so I'm happy I foudn them.:thumb:

Nice, definately leave the lip polished. As far as being 2g wheels, no, they're 3g wheels. The 2g GSX wheels and some of the 3g wheels are nearly identical, but they are different, someone pointed out the differences in a thread once before.

Thanks, I was thinking that I should leave the lip unpolished, but I was going to go for the "blackout" look. With the smoked headlight and taillight covers, tinted windows, and have the car painted black.

I'm all for the black-on-white theme, I'm headed that way myself, but with the wheels completely black, they just look like steelies IMO, not really nice looking unless they're a 5-spoke or something that you can actually make out. Just my opinion, do what you like man.

let that lip shine. if u do paint your car black. you will be glad u left the lip the way it is. black car with just that lip shinin' is a :thumb:

Basically all I did was wedge some index cards into the crevace between the lip and center rim section as to not get paint on the lip. I sprayed it down evenly with Aircraft Stripper from Autozone, waited about 40 min, then sprayed it down with water. I lightly sanded down what was left, primered it, then sprayed it with high temp glossy black engine paint. I like the way that shines a lot better then wheel paint. Also, it leaves a much smoother surface, more like powder coating, then wheel paint does.

I did the same thing to my stock rims, 17" talon rims. went with gunmetal metalic and polished lip.

I love the way they turned out, but i had a compressor and spary gun and got some decent paint. cost about $85 all together.

the hardest part was polishing the lip, i needed to sand it down alot more to get the pits and corrosion off from years of abuse by the previous owner. I'll probably go back repolish it sometime. Oh and don't ever put weights on the outside of your rims i can still see some spots from them.
