Hey guys, I followed the instructions i found on several threads and am still having trouble polishing the lip on my 3g wheels. I bought them off of ebay w/ tires and there seems to be some kind of deposit on them (lim or calcium or something). I used aircraft stripper, chrome polish, engine degreaser, tire cleaner, everything I could think off, and it's not coming off. I even tried going at it with a razor, but the deposits are stil on there. Any suggestions? It's becoming a pain in the @ss.

I'd suppose the stripper or the scraping has removed any coating that may have been on there, so if you're not making any progress with polish, it might be time to cut your losses and just have a polishing service hit them. Where in the country were they from, is it salt damage?

Well, I have no idea what it is, it's kind of an off white pearly color, looks like some one nutted on my rims. I tried taking a dremel tool with a foam/cotton tip and polishing it off, but it just kind of spread it, so I gave up on that idea. I put some CLR on it mixed with warm water (like the directions say), and it didn't work, so I used the CLR full strength. Still no dice. I have no idea what it is, or how to get rid of it. I really really wanted my rims to have a polished lip. But I'm thinking about just painting the whole thing black. Maybe I might use that color changing kameleon look-alike paint on the lip, but I don't know. Any suggestions?

They may have been burned with an acetic wheel cleaner. That would make them look like someone "nutted" on them. I'm with Defiant, cut your losses and take it to a shop that can polish it for you. You have already tried eveything you can think of, right? Don't waste anymore of your time with them.
