Removing Tints

I just bought a 1990 TSI and I am doing a complete overhaul of it. I need to remove the tints... any suggestions on making it easier... I have heard that using amonia will loosen them up.

try using a heat gun, and a razer blade, if your tints are still black should come off in one piece, if they started fading to a purple it will be harder cuase then it comes off in many little pieces

Yes they are coming off in pieces... dam... is a 1500 WATT hair blower good enough to use as a heat gun.

mine was the same way, try the blower with the raazer blade if not try using amonia like u said, just make sure u have the razer blade it makes it a lot easaier and doesnt scratch the glass

you could try,but when i last tried substituting a hair dryer for a heat gun it overheated and stopped working(had to run out and buy my G/f a new one )

Use an ALUMINUM razor blade and soapy water(ammonia works but is not nessesary), and for windows with defroster lines, peel the tint and use medium steel wool(fine takes forever) to get the adhesive off.Steel razor blades will sometimes scratch glass, and aluminum fits the contour of the window better.This works perfect and easy, I worked for a tint shop for 4 years, and while paying my dues when I was new, I stripped many windows.

so where do u get these aluminum blades at? never seen those before myself but i do want that factory tint on the rear windows gone. i hate that shit! let me know...trust
