Why do people think so badly about bodykits?

I'm just wondering. I have been looking over the forums and I notice when a bodykit was brought up. People had all these negative respones. Such as we are tuners not tooners. I am thinking about a kit because when I bought my talon there were not any around. So instead of another eclipse I had something that stood out. Now latley there are a bunch of talons (esi's) running around all riced out. Trying to race people and all the other f & f bullshit. Giving talon's a bad name. So why is it so bady if I do a nice clean simple kit? If i do this I will get the your a tooner not a tuner. This is not true. I care about performance but I like to be different. Not the same as everyone else. So I'm just looking for some other people's veiws what I should do.

why do you worry so much about what people think on here? who gives a sh!t. people all have opinions, man. If you have performance that stands out why not have a car that stands out too? Its all about what you like, not what all the tools on this website like.

I think bodykits are nice if done tastefully with a clean paint job.. No primer gray bodykits. Have to be painted, and No hubcaps with a bodykit!!! blah.

I have a full bodykit on my GSX, and I dont give a FU*K what anybody says about it.

I remember about a month ago, I was pumping gas at a gas station, and this kid rolls up to me in his 'Clean' lookin' Integra.. It was completely stock outside, no kits, just lowered w/ rims, and I have NO clue what he had done to the motor.

His friend with him said to me, your car is kinda ricey.. I said fu*k you, lets race than bit*h.. He said okay.

After pumping gas, we went up to a light (NO cars around at all).. When the light turned green, I launch my GSX so far ahead of him, that he was NEVER even close to my car... I pulled probably around 3-4 cars in front of him. From the beginning, my GSX just kept pulling farther and farther away.. I dont know what kind of Integra it was, but at the back, it has that V-Tec symbol.. While I was ahead of his ass, I tapped on my brakes to flash at him, then I had to turn off to another road..

So, like I said, Who cares what people think! I like stock/clean lookin' cars too, but everyone's got different taste/style...

im going to be making a post somewhere, asking for a collective pic post of kits for my talon because it needs to be changed and given some uniqueness.

if i work on the inside, i want the outside to konw it looks good too.

fok em.

in all my expierience theres 3 kinds of people that dislike body kits

A) People who cant afford to dress up thier car AND tune it

B) People with ugly cars who try and make it seem like the look of the car is unimportant to them when in reality they wish they had the blitz kitted eclipse rather than there 89 civic or what ever

and

C) Sleepers

there are no bodykits that i've seen that will flow with the organic lines of your cars. most bodykits were made for different vehicles

some people just cant see spending money on somthing that dont help the performance of the car.
im fine with the kits that aint way out there.
a 97+ 2g looks so nice as it is..most kits degrade the curves
but each to there own.

actually if you wanna be truthful, my blitz bumpers way less than my stock ones so in a way they can help with performance. no different than a carbon fiber hood. people buy those for looks and weight reduction.hell, i just like the fact that people around here see my car and know its me. if i was stock i would just fall in line with all the other red eclipses around.

k , so now yer gettin down to $400 bucks to shave a few pounds.. or say.. a b16g.. witch will do more?
again i aint sayin there anythign wrong with it.. its just a guess at what some people might be thinking.

no not just for weight reduction, for looks as well. and it costs a whole lot more than 400 dollars for me to put a big 16g on my car. more like 2000 or more.

because no body kit looks good on the 2G IMO..

wen i got my car.. it had a full body kit on it.. street fighter front, blitz sides and rear, and big 18 inch bling rims..

now all of that is gone..

some who are into that kind of stuff will ask me "WHY?"

and my answer.. i only care about one thing.. to make the car look clean, subtle, and be fast.. i dont want anything to do or associate with FnF which already portrayed the 2G as a rice car.. im just doing my part in letting people know on the street that thers a line between those 2 kind of tuners.. and tooners..

no body kits on 2G.. best look u can get from it is 97-99 and focus all the money on making it go fast..

from someone who had a kit people wouldnt mind.. and at the same time people would hate to have..

if i wanted a show car i wouldve got a 2GNT. but then id feel bad cause i know wat the turbo guys would say :shhh: id rather get a celica for body kits adn show. they look really nice with kits.. eclipses just dont..

hate me if u want.. but thats my view..

well thats nice that you think no body kits look good on 2gen. but i have gotten a whole more compliments on my car since i got my kit than i ever did when it was stock. everybody has their own views and i respect that. and to people who start using the word rice, if you spend money on performance as well as looks then its not rice. i can see it being rice if someone gets the body kit, nice wheels, a wing, etc etc but doesnt get anything for performance. thats not my case or alot of others that have body kits. so drop the rice people.

Thanks for all your opinions. I'm stuck between the 97 + body or a simple nice clean kit such as the one i attached below. Hmm not quite shure yet, but i've got a while to decide. haha

the number of people who compliment a body kitted car is like a 10:1 ratio of people who make fun of them in the real world.

this is an online forum dealing with the performance tuning aspect of dsm(for the most part) so of course they're gonna make fun of body kits..they dont add to the performance of the car

rice is something that is made to look faster than it really is imo...like a stock civic with a wing and type-r sticker.

I am so impressed that you went out and took a survey to discover this astounding ratio. Thats fantastic.:thumb:

his ratio and survey though might not seem accurate.. seems fairly close to what i see all the time with my local dsm group.. they are disgusted with kitted DSMs.. and usuually dont hesitate to say its prob an NT.. jus from experience.. damn FnF

maybe one day people will realize that any topic made in this part of the forum is gonna be called rice because it doesnt add to the performance of the car.

well i guess i will have to cry myself to sleep tonight because your local dsm group doesnt like a body kit on a dsm. the truth is i dont care what you people like or dont like. i like my car and thats all that matters to me. it turns heads and thats what i want. if you are happy stock then stay that way. i just dont want to look like everybody else.

i was going to say that, kits have bigger openings in the front allowing better air flow, as well as make the car more aerodynamic as well as make it look better, and thats a good point that person raised above me about the tints, systems ect being rice, it must be rice then right, its not adding performance to the car in anyway, haha all you gst and gsx guys are rice burners too :shhh:

Because most of them are just plain UGLY to my eye, many are built like CRAP, and even if they are finished and installed well, they just don't seem to hold up worth a damn. And I don't get the idea of taking a nice, sleek, rounded, smooth shape and putting all those bizarre sharp edges, extra intakes feeding NOTHING, NACA-style surface ducts facing the wrong directions, mouths with dragon-waddles, pointy juts sharper than barbecue forks, fender swells off a 1920's Ruxton.....

I dunno. They're just not pure enough for me, I guess.

I'd challenge you to find one that _betters_ the 2G's coefficient of drag, already amongst the lowest ever produced.
