i have a 97 GS and was wandering if anyone has neons mounted under the dash. I have some 10" tubes but they seem to bitg to fit under there. If anyone knows any good places to mount neon tu bes orhas some pics of them please let me know.:dsm:

i was considering mounting some under my dash, but they bulbs will have to show because its tight their. i think under the seats is looking good right now, but im sure ill never mount neons inside my car. my friend did it in his neon, under the dash and you see the bulbs the whole time. looks good, but seeing the bulbs is not kool.

yeah thats what problem i was running in to. I just had these laying around the house so i was gonna use them. I dont feel like buying any thin tubes or anything like that. Maybe some LEDs or something that come on when you open the doors instead of those cheaply done oarnge courtesy lights:dsm:

*edit* i have some lava tubes that would look cool seeing them but just reagular bulbs wouldnt *edit*

LEDs under the dash or any where else is cool because its smaller to mount so more options, and they still give off about the same amount of glow. I went with LEDs under my car and under my dash, I have a few green and a few white under my dash and then I have green under my car

I have LED Glow Sticks.... two 7000mcd led's emit just as much light as any neon. Holla at me if you want some i have a bunch laying around here.

Yeah i would like some PM me with some info also anyone got pics of these LEDs i was thinking of making a Radio Crap i mean Shack run since LEDS are cheap there:dsm:

i have 10 inch under my dash. only problem is the passenger side b/c of the glove box you will have a sharp line where the glow stop mid floor board. on the drive side it looks bad ace. 10 can fit you just need to zip tie them so somethign.

yeah i thought about zip tying them under the dash. Since i have to lava tubes i was thinking about were the center console is by your feet put on on each side of that on the floor or actually right were the center console ends and the carpet starts by the vents or whatever. since they are lava tubes seeing the bulbs would actually be cool.:dsm:

i was able to mount them without seeing the blubs under the dash. they fit right under there with no problem. the shine down, look good and don't see the blubs. don't see why your having trouble

Under the dash with a set of 10" street glows was the way I went. I didnt want to drill in case they didn't light up well so I used some 3M double sided tape and it stick stuck there even after ramming my old GST into a fire hydrant (may it rest in peace). If u want to go completely ricer-rific put another set on the rear pilars but make sure to have a switch for those. Cops dont like seeing a blue blur driving down the highway

I have 15" tubes, and they fit fine. Check my gallery for some pics. All I did was use some 3M double sided tape and taped them up. It sounds ghetto rigged, but they havent fallen down after 4 months of daily driving.

PM me if you stil need details about it.

I am about to install a pair of streetglow 10" turquoise tubes under the dash and under each seat. I am going to have them turn on like dome lights wihen the doors are opened. I also rigging the one's in the hatch area around my subs and amp to come on when the hatch is opened. I'll post pics once I get everything installed and working.

drive_eagle... your post was so informative and helpful. I'm really glad you took the time to help the person out with there question.

Youy do realize this is the "Non-Performance Mods (Interior/Exterior)" section. If you don't like non performance mods, or this one in particular... don't respond. It's quite simple, try it sometime.

thanks guys for all the help glad to see some one on here besides a few that posted that actualy help instead of bashing. Also does anyone have a chematic were i could wire them up so they come on when you open the doors, but also over ride that so you could turn them on anytime?? is that possible:dsm:

I havent looked, but check the fuse block down inside the driver side footwell for a fuse that lights up the interior lights, or just ghetto rig it and tap right into a power wire going into one of the accent lights.

I'm not exactly sure how you would make it so they can also come on when the doors open, and have them rigged to a switch.

just a tip..

make sure wherever you mount the passengers, that they cant accidentally kick it out. i went through 2 of em and said f*ck it LOL...just stash em good...zip ties are your buddy

I got a good idea, mount that rice right back in the box.

Read the Rules. Yes, performance is king here, but there is no need to go bashing on people because they want some neons. Its not your car so keep your opinions to yourself.

Hey try cold cathode tubes. People are putting them into thier computers right now. They are alot small in diameter and run off of 12V like neons. Goto Tigerdirect.com or some other computer retail person. Also cold cathode tubes are brighter than neons, depending on which ones you get.

i have 2 12" tubes under my dash and i cant see them at all. on the passenger side if you take the glove box out, there is a perfect place for mounting it and they shine really nicely. The driver side was a little difficult, you have to manuver(spelling) it on the driver side. i used zip ties. :dsm: GOOD LUCK:thumb:

umm, on the wiring to the door opening you may have to take your seat out to check the wiring on the little black push button, do check the fuse for it but to toggle the switch from the door opening and to have a switch it is possible, not sure how. THe only reason i say its posible is because any thing is possible.

i think i got it. You would have to have a dome light though. what you would do is wire the lights to your dome light because it comes on with the door. Also you can turn the dome lights on with out the door being open which mean that it has a constant 12 V. you would just have to run you power wire off the neon lights to the dome light. I think this would work some one correct me if i am not or if you have anything to add. I have a sunroof so doing this may be out of the question for me:dsm:

Have anyone try mounting it in their hoods were u can see light comming out between the fender n hood?
